Nitrous oxide emission from soils amended with crop residues

open access: yes, 2002
Crop residues incorporated in soil are a potentially important source of nitrous oxide (N2O), though poorly quantified. Here, we report on the N2O emission from 10 crop residues added to a sandy and a clay soil, both with and without additional nitrate ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Residue Estimation of Selected Herbicides for Weed Control in Greek Oregano Cultivation

open access: yesAgronomy
Greek oregano (Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum) is an important aromatic and medicinal crop grown in Greece, often on marginal lands. Effective weed management is essential for sustainable production, but the use of herbicides raises concerns about ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Mapping of energy potential through annual crop residues in Turkey

open access: yes, 2015
The objective of this study was to determine the annual crop residue potential in terms of types, quantities and mapping in Turkey. The calorific values of agricultural residues were determined by calorimeter according to ASTM D 5865 Standard Test Method

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Soil application of high-lignin fermentation byproduct to increase the sustainability of liquid biofuel production from crop residues

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
When digestates from anaerobic digestion of crop residues are added to soil, a considerable body of information indicates that soil organic carbon (SOC) levels are comparable to those when crop residues are left in the field.
