Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Crop residues management and nutritional improvement practices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Crop residues are the second most important feed source for livestock next to grazing lands in the crop-livestock mixed production system in Ethiopia. However, their contribution to livestock feed in pastoral and agropastoral areas is insignificant.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Population dynamics of Alternaria solani, Cercospora beticola, Ramularia beticola, and Stemphylium beticola in residues of host crops, non-host crops, and weeds in Dutch rotation systems

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy
Crop residues colonized saprophytically by necrotrophic plant pathogens are an important primary inoculum source for epidemics of foliar diseases. Residues of crops, weeds, and litter were systematically sampled in a complex crop rotation experiment ...

Multicriteria Analysis of the Effects of Field Burning Crop Residues

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 2014
Burning crop residues is frequently used by Romanian land users to clean agricultural fields after crop harvest for ease in post-harvest soil tillage. Huge amounts of crop residues biomass, on very large areas, were burned in Romania in the last twenty ...
