THE INFLUENCE OF PRECURSORS IN CROP ROTATION ON CROP YIELDS

International Scientific Conference, 2021
The article found that different precursors in crop rotation have an unequal effect on soil fertility, its weed infestation, infection with pathogens and plant pests.

Maximizing crop yield in alley crops

Agroforestry Systems, 1998
A simple graphical model is presented illustrating the balance between facilitation and competition necessary for maximizing crop yield in alley cropping systems. Three functions are composed into the decision function: (1) the percent increase in crop yield from facilitation resulting from prunings, (2) the amount of prunings resulting from different ...

Weather and the Yield of a Crop

Experimental Agriculture, 1975
SUMMARYThe growth of plants is controlled by the availability of photosynthesized carbohydrates. Since both rainfall and sunshine are needed for photosynthesis an empirical expression is proposed which relates vegetative growth to the product of rainfall and bright sunshine hours over a specified period.

Are Crop Yields Cyclical?

1978
This paper shows how spectral analysis can be used to determine the cyclical nature of crop yields. The number and length of cycles are estimated for corn and wheat in the Corn Helt and the Northern Plains. Several cycles appear to be superimposed over the trend yield.

Crop Yields and Weather

1942
Excerpts from the report: This publication represents the joint interest of the Weather Bureau, the Agricultural Marketing Service, and the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, in promoting extensive research in the relation between weather and crops and in methods of long-range forecasting of weather and crop fluctuations.

Does Crop Insurance Affect Crop Yields?

2007
We use administrative data from the Federal crop insurance program to examine how yield distributions change as farmers cycle into and out of the program. We are able to do this by linking many years of crop insurance data by individual farm conditioning observed yields on the particular county and year in which they are observed.

Variations in Crop Yields

Madras Agricultural Journal, 1956
The main aim of all agricultural research workers is focussed on the problem of maximisation of crop production with minimum cost. Evolution of yielding strains, formulation of economical and profitable manurial programmes, utilisation of abour-saving implements, economic use of water for irrigation and tapping to the maximum extent all the avilable ...

Tropical Agriculture: Crop Diversity and Crop Yields

Economic Geography, 1977
Agricultural land use in the tropics is characterized by marked regional contrast, diversity of crops, and less acreage in cereal crops but more in legumes than in the temperate zone.
