Crop yield prediction method based on an improved neural network

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong, 2019
Crop yield forecasting plays a decisive role in the development of national economy planned by the government. It is of great significance to rationally plan planting strategies and reduce the waste of water and fertilizer.

Sunflower crop yield prediction by advanced statistical modeling using satellite-derived vegetation indices and crop phenology

open access: yesGeocarto International, 2023
Timely crop yield information is needed for agricultural land management and food security. We investigated using remote sensing data from the Earth observation mission Sentinel-2 to monitor the crop phenology and predict the crop yield of sunflowers at ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Silencing of GhSHP1 hindered flowering and boll cracking in upland cotton

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
The opening of cotton bolls is an important characteristic that influences the precocity of cotton. In the field, farmers often use chemical defoliants to induce cotton leaves to fall off earlier, thus accelerating the cracking of cotton bolls.

Decomposing global crop yield variability

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2014
Recent food crises have highlighted the need to better understand the between-year variability of agricultural production. Although increasing future production seems necessary, the globalization of commodity markets suggests that the food system would ...

Heavy soil drying during mid-to-late grain filling stage of the main crop to reduce yield loss of the ratoon crop in a mechanized rice ratooning system

open access: yesCrop Journal, 2022
Yield loss (YLoss) in the ratoon crop due to crushing damage to left stubble from mechanical harvesting of the main crop is a constraint for wide adoption of mechanized rice ratooning technology.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Agrivoltaics Crop Yield Modeling

open access: yesAgriVoltaics Conference Proceedings
Agrivoltaics (APV) combine agriculture and photovoltaic (PV) energy production on the same land and have the potential to provide several synergies for both production systems.

Research Progress and Challenges of Oil Crop Yield Monitoring by Remote Sensing

open access: yes智慧农业, 2023
SignificanceOil crops play a significant role in the food supply, as well as the important source of edible vegetable oils and plant proteins. Real-time, dynamic and large-scale monitoring of oil crop growth is essential in guiding agricultural ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
