Soil Organic Carbon and System Environmental Footprint in Sugarcane-Based Cropping Systems Are Improved by Precision Land Leveling

open access: yes, 2021
A six-year experiment (2009 to 2015) was conducted on sugarcane-based cropping systems in farmers’ fields to examine the effects of precision land leveling (PLL) compared to traditional land leveling (TLL) in terms of soil organic carbon (SOC ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Integrative Transcriptomic and Biochemical Analysis Reveals Key HSP20/Alpha-Crystallin Genes Associated with Heat Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesRice
This study presents a detailed analysis of the molecular mechanisms involved in heat stress tolerance in rice, focusing on the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) protein processing pathway. Through RNA sequencing (RNA-seq), we identified differentially expressed

Maize metabolomics in relation to cropping system and growing year

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2023
Maize is important to global food security, being one of the predominant cereals in human and domesticated livestock diets worldwide. Due to the increasing human population, it will be important to not only design cropping systems to increase maize yield

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Assessing fiber quality variability among modern upland cotton cultivars and incorporating it into the GOSSYM-based fiber quality simulation model

open access: yesJournal of Cotton Research
Background GOSSYM is a mechanistic, process-based cotton model that can simulate cotton crop growth and development, yield, and fiber quality. Its fiber quality module was developed based on controlled experiments explicitly conducted on the Texas Marker-

Cropping system exerts stronger influence on antibiotic resistance gene assemblages in greenhouse soils than reclaimed wastewater irrigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The effects of reclaimed wastewater (RW) irrigation on the spread of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in soil is modulated by a myriad of biotic and abiotic factors and their relative significance remains vague.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.
