Analyzing the Impact of Climate Change on Crop Water Demand in the Semi‐Arid Bilate Watershed, Ethiopia

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The aim of this study was to look at the potential effects of climate change on the Bilate watershed’s crop water requirements (CWRs). Under two climate scenarios (RCP4.5 and RCP8.5), the CWR was anticipated for 2021–2050 and 2071–2100. The power transformation (PT) and variance scaling (VARI) methods were employed to correct biases in the rainfall and

Evapotranspiration and Crop Coefficient for Haricot Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Using Nonweighing Lysimeter Under Semiarid Climate of Melkassa, Ethiopia

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The primary objective of irrigated agriculture is to produce crops with the help of irrigation. This field study was conducted during the 2017 and 2018 cropping seasons at the experimental farmland of Melkassa Agricultural Research Center, Ethiopia.

Integrating SWAT‐WEAP Models for Surface Water Availability and Demand Analysis in Gumara Watershed, Upper Blue Nile Basin, Ethiopia

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Soil Science, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Reliable information on the water resource’s potential and its demand in a watershed helps to plan for efficient management and utilization. This study was carried out to assess surface water potential and water demands in the Gumara watershed of the Upper Blue Nile basin by integrating the SWAT and WEAP hydrological models. The SWAT model was employed

Embracing complexities in agricultural water management through nexus planning

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 73, Issue 5, Page 1695-1716, November 2024.
Abstract A major challenge for agricultural water management (AWM) in the 21st century is to feed a growing population in the face of increasing intersectoral resource competition, evolving diets, degradation, pandemics, geopolitical conflicts and climate change.

Spatial Simulation and Optimization of Cropping Structure Under Climate and Land Use Change Conditions Considering Synergistic Economic Benefits and Carbon Reduction in Crop Growth Processes

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 12, Issue 10, October 2024.
Abstract The climate and land use changes caused by the natural environment and socioeconomic development have potential impacts on the green and sustainable development of agriculture. To accommodate agricultural production under multiple scenarios of future climate and land‐use change, this study proposes a “simulation–optimization” modeling approach

Irrigation modeling in a pear orchard

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2010
The pear has large water requirement, therefore the planting of high density and grass covered pear orchards are needed irrigation conditions in Hungary. Drip irrigation spread in the orchards is due to the 90–95% of water use efficiency.

Simulation of Maize Yield under Water Stress with the EPICphase and CROPWAT Models

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, 2000
Models that simulate the effects of water stress on crop yield can be valuable tools in irrigation. We evaluated the crop growth simulation model EPICphase and the model CROPWAT on their ability to simulate maize (Zea mays L.) grain yield reduction caused by water stress under semiarid conditions.
