Estimation of water requirement for different crops using CROPWAT model in Anantapur region

open access: yesASIAN JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE, 2014
Groundwater exploration for irrigation is a costly and scare input in agriculture and plays an important role in increasing food production. Due to over use of groundwater resources, it has become very important to estimate the Crop Water Requirement for different crops.

Impacts of climate change on irrigation requirements and water productivity of citrus and olive crops in Egypt

open access: yesFundamental and Applied Agriculture, 2021
Climate changes could affect the meteorological parameters and which directly lead to changes in irrigation requirements (IR) and water productivity (WP) of fruit crops.

Nitrogen fertilizer rates and supplementary irrigation effects on maize yield in Eastern Ethiopia

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Maize (Zea mays L.) is an important food and nutritional security crop widely grown in Ethiopia. However, the crop yield is low due to low soil fertility, and erratic rainfall that results in moisture stress during the primary growing season.

Future projections of crop water and irrigation water requirements using a bias-corrected regional climate model coupled with CROPWAT

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2023
The study is conducted to examine the climate change impact on rice Crop Water Requirement (CWR) and Net Irrigation Requirement (NIR) using the NASA Earth Exchange Global Daily Downscaled Projection (NEX-GDDP) coupled with the CROPWAT 8.0 model.

Exploring the Relationship Between Land Use and the Food‐Water‐Energy Nexus: Insights From A Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 36, Issue 10, Page 3257-3278, June 2025.
ABSTRACT As urbanization accelerates, cities face increasingly significant ecological challenges essential for sustainability. One of the primary manifestations of these challenges is the imbalance between food, water, and energy resources, often resulting in the irrational use of land.

Simulation of Silage-Maize Water Balance with CROPWAT and ISAREG Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper presents the results of water-balance simulations in silage-corn production in the area around Bijelo Polje. Silage-maize production was simulated with CropWat and ISAREG models over three years and on two soil types. The simulated results showed a the variation between the two models and measured the difference in yield.

Growth responses of green mustard (Brassica juncea) and water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) in terms of water productivity and yield based on Cropwat 8.0 with limited data availability in a semi-arid developing nation

open access: yesEngineering and Applied Science Research, 2023
The crop water requirement (CWR) is one of the most important aspects to consider when studying food production under the types of water scarcity constraints that are widely encountered in semi-arid regions.

ASSESSING WATER CONSUMPTION OF BARLEY CULTIVATION IN THI-QAR PROVINCE, IRAQ [PDF]

open access: yesJournal CleanWAS, 2017
We assessed the blue and green water consumption for cultivating barley in the Thi-Qar province, Iraq. CROPWAT 8.0 model was used to compute the total crop water use for both crops based on the meteorological data such as rainfall, maximum and minimum ...
