Competitive implications of cross-border banking [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper reviews the recent literature on cross-border banking, with a focus on policy implications. Cross-border banking has increased sharply in recent decades, particularly in the form of entry, and has affected the development of financial systems,

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Association between depressive symptoms and smoking intensity with ethnic minorities in Yunnan Province, China: a moderated mediation model

open access: yesBMC Psychology
Background Previous research has indicated that depressive symptoms may contribute to an escalation in smoking intensity; however, our knowledge regarding the underlying mediating and moderating mechanisms of this association among ethnic minorities ...

Development of a colloidal gold immunochromatographic strip for the rapid detection of fowl adenovirus serotype 4 using prepared penton protein-specific monoclonal antibodies

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Fowl adenovirus serotype 4 (FAdV-4) is the primary pathogen responsible for hydropericardium-hepatitis syndrome (HHS) and is associated with high mortality rates (20–80%) in 3–6-week-old chickens.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Epidemiological investigation and genomic characterization of Gyrovirus galga1 in Guangxi, China

open access: yesPoultry Science
Gyrovirus galga1 (GyG1), an emerging pathogen within the Anelloviridae family, exhibits expanding host diversity and zoonotic potential, yet its epidemiological patterns and genomic determinants remain poorly characterized.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Cross-border mergers and acquisitions and the role of trade costs [PDF]

open access: yes
Cross-border mergers and acquisitions (M&As) have increased dramatically over the last two decades. This paper analyses the role of trade costs in explaining the increase in both the number and the value of cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.
