The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.

Ultra‐Confinement of Polaritons in Single Atomic Layer Ag Photonic Quantum Dots
Strong confinement of surface phonon polaritons of silicon carbide was achieved in photonic quantum dots fabricated from van der Waals heterostructure of epitaxial graphene over single‐atomic layer silver. Scattering‐type scanning near‐field optical microscopy combined with an analytical approach, developed to reveal local propagation constants with ...

Cross-border cooperation in the EU
The article focuses on Euroregions as formal organizations within the wider context of cross-border cooperation (CBC) in the EU. Nowadays, CBC promoted by Euroregions all over the European Union is a consolidating reality. Although there is an existing plurality of study-cases over the matter, we acknowledge a lack of global analysis to produce ...

The construction of new scales: a framework and case study of the EUREGIO cross-border region [PDF]
The article proposes a framework for analysing re-scaling processes and applies it to a case study of the Dutch-German EUREGIO cross-border region. While much of the scale debate focuses on the causes and consequences of re-scaling, the article addresses
