Essays on cross-border mergers and acquisitions
Cross-border M&As are important corporate decisions. They are different from domestic M&As in that acquirers have potentially more investment opportunities, but also greater challenges. This thesis provides new evidence on why acquirers undertake cross-border deals, and how they manage the additional challenges that arise in cross-border deals.

Automated Hand Flexor Tendon–Thickness Measurement in Systemic Sclerosis
Objective Systemic sclerosis (SSc) can affect flexor tendons, contributing to hand function problems and reduced quality of life. Tendon changes are currently assessed with ultrasonography and measured manually, a time‐consuming process prone to interobserver variability.

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...
