Enhancing the Versatility of Photocrosslinkable Silk Fibroin Using an Eco‐Friendly Solvent

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 7, April 2025.
Silk fibroin modified with photoreactive groups enables liquid‐to‐solid transitions under light, allowing precise structural control for biofabrication. Using a sustainable calcium chloride‐ethanol‐water solvent, a novel photofibroin (PF) is shown for light‐based manufacturing like 3D printing, forming cytocompatible hydrogels for regenerative medicine.
