Diffusion in Metals and Intermetallics: An Overview

open access: yes, 2022
After a few remarks about the history of diffusion in solids we remind the reader to some basics of diffusion such as tracer diffusion, interdiffusion, high-diffusivity paths, and basic diffusion mechanism in solids.

CAR T‐Cell Therapy in Neurology: A Scoping Review of Neuro‐Oncology, Autoimmune Diseases & Neurotoxicity

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T‐cell therapy has been investigated in neurological diseases, encompassing both central nervous system malignancies and autoimmune disorders, thereby extending its application beyond hematological cancers.

Segregation and Gap Formation in Cross-Diffusion Models

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper we analyse a class of nonlinear cross-diffusion systems for two species with local repulsive interactions that exhibit a formal gradient flow structure with respect to the Wasserstein metric. We show that systems where the population pressure is given by a function of the total population are critical with respect to cross-diffusion ...

A 17 Year Old With Developmental Delay Presenting With Increasing Confusion and Imbalance

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Methylmalonic acidemia is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder primarily caused by defects in methylmalonyl‐CoA mutase and cobalamin (vitamin B12) metabolism. These defects disrupt the tricarboxylic acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, leading to the abnormal accumulation of metabolic products such as methylmalonic acid, propionic acid,

Induction of patterns through crowding in a cross-diffusion model

open access: yesResults in Applied Mathematics
In this paper we focus on pattern formation in systems of interacting populations. We show that if one considers these populations to be “crowded” in a way that is defined below, then cross-diffusion terms appear naturally.

On a Cross-Diffusion Model in Ecohydrology: Theory and Numerics

open access: yesActa Applicandae Mathematicae
Abstract In this paper, we consider a version of the mathematical model introduced in (Wang et al. in Commun. Nonlinear Sci. Numer. Simul. 42:571–584, 2017) to describe the interaction between vegetation and soil water in arid environments. The model corresponds to a nonlinear parabolic coupled system of partial differential equations, with ...

White Matter Microstructural Abnormalities in Neonatal Onset Genetic Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Recent evidence indicates that epilepsy is associated with abnormal white matter. If seizures alter white matter, then the impact upon network function, epileptogenesis, and cognition could be pronounced in neonates undergoing rapid developmental myelination. Neonates with epilepsy due to nonstructural genetic causes provide a unique

Generation of Large Scale Magnetic Fields by Cross Field Diffusion [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 1987
The possibility of the cross-field diffusion of a fluid to generate magnetic fields on a large scale is examined. Application to the sunspot is discussed.

Neurochemical Endpoints to Inform Early‐Stage Trials of Spinocerebellar Ataxia 2 and 3 in a Multisite Setting

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Neurochemical levels measured by brain MR spectroscopy (MRS) have been proposed as endpoints for clinical trials in early‐stage spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) trials. We tested their trial‐readiness by quantifying neurochemicals in three affected brain regions in early‐stage cohorts of SCA2 and SCA3, examining their reproducibility in ...
