Slovene guidelines for expert based fertilization in a light of cross compliance rules

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2006
Slovenian rules and regulation concerning fertilization are briefly presented. Current use of fertilizers, manures and compost, as well as nitrogen and humus balances in Slovene agriculture, and soil supply level with phosphorus and potassium dependent ...

Pollination, Fertilization, and Embryo Development in Southern China Fresh-eating Jujube

open access: yesHortScience, 2020
To explore the reasons for seed abortion in southern China fresh-eating jujube, improve its reproductive biology, and provide a theoretical basis for the crossbreeding of jujube, we carried out self-pollination and cross-pollination experiments with ...

Ferritin‐Doped Nanoparticles Triggered Tumor‐Specific Darkening for Enhanced Photothermal Tumor Ablation and Immune Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ferritin‐doped hybrid nanoparticles triggered accurate tumor‐specific hemorrhage for enhanced in situ photothermal therapy and evoked anti‐tumor immunity. Notably, HFn/GA‐Fe specifically induced tumor hemorrhage 12 h after intravenous injection, resulting in visible color darkening. Through photoacoustic imaging, tumor vessels could be clearly observed

The evolution of interdisciplinarity in physics research [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Science, being a social enterprise, is subject to fragmentation into groups that focus on specialized areas or topics. Often new advances occur through cross-fertilization of ideas between sub-fields that otherwise have little overlap as they study ...

Evaluation of the Dual Impact of Nanotechnologies on Health and Environment Through Alternative Bridging Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how alternative invertebrate and small‐vertebrate models advance the evaluation of nanomaterials across medicine and environmental science. By bridging cellular and organismal levels, these models enable integrated assessment of toxicity, biodistribution, and therapeutic performance.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

The Influence of Self-fertilization performance and Copulation Behaviour in Reproduction by Cross-fertilization in Groups of Biomphalaria tenagophila (Mollusca, Planorbidae)

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1997
The following hypotheses were tested for groups of simultaneous hermaphrodites Biomphalaria tenagophila: (a) snails that have low reproductive success during the process of self-fertilization do not increase their reproductive success after the end of ...

A PECTIN METHYLESTERASE gene at the maize Ga1 locus confers male function in unilateral cross-incompatibility

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Unilateral cross-incompatibility between certain varieties of maize prevents cross-fertilization and can facilitate hybrid breeding. Here the authors show that a PECTIN METHYLESTERASE gene is able to overcome this reproductive barrier and confer ...

Lotman and cultural studies: The case for cross-fertilization

open access: yesSign Systems Studies, 2002
This paper seeks to evaluate the extent to which Lotman’s theoretical works could provide a conceptual articulation to the project of British and American cultural studies (CS). Just as CS, Lotman operates with an extensive concept of culture, albeit one
