Immobilized cell cross‐flow reactor

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1984
AbstractA cross‐current flow reactor was operated using sodium alginate gel entrapped yeast cells under growth conditions. Micron‐sized silica, incorporated into the biocatalyst particles (1 mm mean diameter) improved mechanical strength and internal surface adhesion.

Oscillatory cross‐flow electrophoresis

AIChE Journal, 1991
AbstractElectrophoresis is a useful analytic technique for the separation of proteins and other large molecules, but has proven resistant to scale‐up to production levels. In this article we describe a new technique that permits the use of much greater feed rates than possible in a conventional electrophoresis unit.

Dynamic cross flow filtration

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2000
The dynamic cross flow filtration with the DYNO filter is a very versatile and economic high performance filtration process especially for suspensions with critical separation characteristics. Thickening, washing and clarifying of suspensions but also a classifying sieve filtration can be performed with the DYNO filter in a continuous operation with ...

Multiple Tandem Jets in Cross-Flow

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2006
The interaction of multiple tandem jets in a cross-flow has been studied through experiments. Experiments are conducted with 2-8 momentum and buoyant jets discharged into a perpendicular cross-flow. The tracer concentration field is measured by the laser-induced fluorescence technique.

Dynamic cross- flow filtration

Filtration + Separation, 2020
Dynamic cross-flow filtration (DCFF) with rotating ceramic membranes combines many advantages which make this technique an outstanding separation method for intricate applications. The method-specific benefits described here can be combined with the preferences of KERAFOL discs.

A Cross-Flow Model for Continuous Plug Flow Fluidized-Bed Cross-Flow Dryers

Drying Technology, 2007
Plug flow fluidized bed cross-flow dryers have been used in drying of particulate solids such as paddy and other grains for many years. However, simulation of the performance of any particular design of the dryer has always been problematic due to the inadequate overall empirical models used that are too inflexible and too specific to the particular ...

Cross Flow Filtration

2018
Many of the difficulties associated with conventional filtration can be eliminated if the slurry flow is tangential to rather than directly into the filtration media. Cross flow filtration (CFF) utilizes a high fluid circulation rate tangential to the filtration barrier to minimize the accumulation of particles at the filter surface.

Convective model of cross-flow microfiltration

Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 1992
In membrane microfiltration of colloidal and cellular suspensions tangential feed ensures continuous operation. Neglecting diffusion (Pe much greater than 1) the purely convective approach predicts well observed dependences between technological parameters and solves the so called microfiltration paradox.
