Twin jets in cross-flow

Chemical Engineering Science, 2011
Abstract An experimental study and numerical investigation of thermal mixing are carried out on tandem twin jets in cross flow. Experiments were carried out for velocity ratios 1, 2 and 4 for 15 °C temperature difference between main pipe and jet fluid. Velocity and temperature fields are measured using Hot Film Anemometer (HFA).

Two-Dimensional Cross-Flow Extraction

Separation Science, 1973
Abstract The separating power of two dimensional cross-flow (2DCF) cascades employing liquid-liquid extraction has been studied experimentally and theoretically. Toluene and ethylene glycol were used as solvents to separate a multicomponent feed consisting of nonane, methyl ethyl ketone, and 2-propanol. An efficient convergence scheme was developed for

Impinging jets in cross-flow

The Aeronautical Journal, 1992
AbstractThe flow-fields associated with single and twin jets impinging in cross-flows have been studied. Parameters which affect the position of the ground vortex have been investigated: cross-flow-to-nozzle velocity ratio, cross-flow boundary layer thickness, nozzle height, nozzle pressure ratio, vector angle and nozzle splay with both fixed and ...

The Cross–Flow Impulse Turbine

Transactions of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1923
Abstract The author reviews the history of the development of the hydraulic turbine and shows that there is a gap between the field of the reaction turbine and the impulse wheel. This is due to the fact that the impulse wheel, as now built, has the slowest speed of all turbines, and that its highest specific speed is much below that of ...

Two-Dimensional Cross-Flow Cascades

Separation Science, 1972
Abstract The two-dimensional cross-flow (2DCF) apparatus is a new cascade design which will separate a multicomponent feed into all its components in a continuous operation. The flow pattern for a 2DCF cascade is presented and discussed. An ideal theory shows that in discontinuous operation with continual feed 2DCF gives the same distributions as batch
