Objective Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a heterogenous inflammatory condition with widely varying global prevalence estimates. The frequency of SLE in the general population of Australia has been reported to be notably lower than contemporary estimates in countries such as the United States or United Kingdom, at 19 to 39 per 100,000 as opposed ...

Physics of an arc in cross-flow
ICOPS 2000. IEEE Conference Record - Abstracts. 27th IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science (Cat. No.00CH37087), 2000Arcs in cross flow are encountered in a number of applications, for example in wire arc spraying. Optimization of such processes has relied in the past on an empirical approach and on intuition based on a qualitative understanding of the process. A theoretical treatment of an arc exposed to a cold gas flow perpendicular to its axis requires a three ...

The Jet in Cross-Flow: A Few Remarks on the Cross-Flow Structure Influence
2003The results of an experimental investigation of the jet in cross-flow mixing zone are presented. The jet emanates perpendicularly from a circular nozzle in a wall with parallel cross-flow, and a jet to cross-flow velocity ratio of 4 is chosen. The cross-flow was of either low turbulence or high turbulence in nature.

Multiple Tandem Jets in Cross-Flow
Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2006The interaction of multiple tandem jets in a cross-flow has been studied through experiments. Experiments are conducted with 2-8 momentum and buoyant jets discharged into a perpendicular cross-flow. The tracer concentration field is measured by the laser-induced fluorescence technique.

SPRAY IN CROSS FLOW OF A ROTARY ATOMIZER
Atomization and Sprays, 2012This paper presents an experimental investigation of fuel sprays generated by a rotary atomizer exposed to a cross flow of air. The effects of two variables, the rotational speed and cross-flow velocity, on the droplet sizes were studied. The rotary atomizer was driven at speeds up to 15,000 rpm with a fuel flow rate of 15 kg/h and cross flow from 10 ...

Unsteady Simulation of Jets in a Cross Flow
Journal of Computational Physics, 1997Effects of the computational time step and grid stretching on numerical solutions of a two-dimensional laminar boundary layer with a planar jet injected from a wall are investigated using a fully implicit time advancement scheme. A full three-dimensional numerical simulation has been performed to qualitatively investigate the interaction of jets in a ...

The effects of cross-flow fuel injection on the reacting jet in vitiated cross-flow
Combustion and Flame, 2019Abstract The effects of cross-flow fuel injection on a slotted jet flame consisting of an ethylene-air premixture are investigated experimentally. Cross-flow conditions of 900 K and 100 m/s were chosen to closely simulate the environment of a secondary combustor in a staged combustion system.

Immobilized cell cross‐flow reactor
Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1984AbstractA cross‐current flow reactor was operated using sodium alginate gel entrapped yeast cells under growth conditions. Micron‐sized silica, incorporated into the biocatalyst particles (1 mm mean diameter) improved mechanical strength and internal surface adhesion.
