A high-efficiency quantum non-demolition single photon number resolving detector

open access: yes, 2003
We discuss a novel approach to the problem of creating a photon number resolving detector using the giant Kerr nonlinearities available in electromagnetically induced transparency.

Octave‐Spanning, Deterministic Single Soliton Generation in 4H‐Silicon Carbide‐On‐Insulator Microring Resonators

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
The miniaturization of metrology and precision spectroscopy systems requires robust, turn‐key microcombs with broad bandwidth, low threshold, and high efficiency. Here, high‐Q, dispersion‐engineered microresonators in a high‐confinement nonlinear SiC platform, combined with waveguide‐enabled thermal management and laser cooling, enable deterministic ...

Performance of SOI Bragg Grating Ring Resonator for Nonlinear Sensing Applications

open access: yesSensors, 2014
In this paper, a spectroscopic sensor formed by a silicon-on-insulator waveguiding Bragg grating ring resonator working in linear and non-linear regime is proposed.

Efficient hyperconcentration of nonlocal multipartite entanglement via the cross-Kerr nonlinearity

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
We propose two schemes for concentration of hyperentanglement of nonlocal multipartite states which are simultaneously entangled in the polarization and spatial modes. One scheme uses an auxiliary singlephoton state prepared according to the parameters of the less-entangled states. The other scheme uses two less-entangled states with unknown parameters

Period-tripling subharmonic oscillations in a driven superconducting resonator

open access: yes, 2017
We have observed period-tripling subharmonic oscillations, in a superconducting coplanar waveguide resonator operated in the quantum regime, $k_B T \ll \hbar\omega$.

Deterministic Fiber‐Optic Spectral Engineering Enables Three‐Color Multiplexed Two‐Photon Microscopy

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A simulation‐guided spectral‐engineering framework maps the nonlinear parameter space of a fiber laser platform to identify balanced three‐band excitation states. The resulting 960, 1080, and 1175 nm femtosecond pulses deliver nJ‐level energies for low‐cross‐talk chromatically multiplexed two‐photon microscopy.

Broadband Parametric Amplification in AlGaAs‐on‐Insulator Nanowaveguides

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Harnessing the exceptional nonlinearity of AlGaAs‐on‐insulator nanowaveguides, four‐wave‐mixing parametric amplification achieves a record net on‐chip gain of 56 dB and a gain bandwidth exceeding 415 nm at telecom wavelengths. These results establish AlGaAsOI as a powerful platform for compact, high‐performance integrated nonlinear optical ...

Investigation of χ(2)-Translated Optical Frequency Combs Tunability in Gallium Phosphide-on- Insulator Resonators

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
We describe a synergistic optimization approach that enables highly efficient frequency translation of a Kerr optical frequency comb (OFC) from 1550 nm to 775 nm in a gallium phosphide-on-insulator (GaP-OI) microresonator.

Optical‐to‐Microcomb Stability Transfer for Ultrastable Timing and Microwave/Millimeter‐Wave Generation

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a high‐fidelity stability transfer from an optical reference to a high‐repetition‐rate microcomb using a mode‐locked laser bridge. By employing electro‐optic sampling timing detection, femtosecond‐level synchronization and 10−18‐level fractional frequency stability are achieved.
