Adversarial Cross-Modal Retrieval
Proceedings of the 25th ACM international conference on Multimedia, 2017Cross-modal retrieval aims to enable flexible retrieval experience across different modalities (e.g., texts vs. images). The core of cross-modal retrieval research is to learn a common subspace where the items of different modalities can be directly compared to each other.

We, humans, have the ability to easily imagine scenes that depict sentences such as “Today is a beautiful sunny day” or “There is a Christmas feel, in the air”. While it is hard to precisely describe what one person may imagine, the essential high-level themes associated with such sentences largely remains the same.

LITTLE is known about transfer between different sensory systems during learning of complex material. Positive cross-modal transfer implies that learning to discriminate between a pair of stimuli in one modality leads to accelerated discrimination between the same stimuli presented in a second modality.

Cross modal perception in apes
Neuropsychologia, 1973Abstract It has previously been demonstrated that apes can cross-modally perceive objects from vision to touch. This suggests they possess an ability which has been considered to be the exclusive property of man. The present study extends this work further by demonstrating the bidirectionally of cross-modal perception (i.e. touch to vision) in apes.

A Note on Cross-Modality Matching
Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973“Stevens' law”, that the psychophysical law is a power function, is often taken to be confirmed by results of cross-modality matching experiments, for it predicts both the fact that cross-modality matching experiments yield power functions, and the exponents of these power functions.

Cross-Modality Personalization for Retrieval
2019 IEEE/CVF Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2019Existing captioning and gaze prediction approaches do not consider the multiple facets of personality that affect how a viewer extracts meaning from an image. While there are methods that consider personalized captioning, they do not consider personalized perception across modalities, i.e.

Semi-supervised cross-modal learning for cross modal retrieval and image annotation
World Wide Web, 2018Multimedia data are usually associated with multiple modalities represented by heterogeneous features. Recently, many information retrieval tasks are not only restricted to the case of a single modal and the contend-based cross modal retrieval has become one of the popular research fields.
