Suppression of Cross-Polarization of the Microstrip Integrated Balun-Fed Printed Dipole Antenna

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2014
The high cross-polarization of the microstrip integrated balun-fed printed dipole antenna cannot meet the demands of many engineering applications. This kind of antennas has high cross-polarization levels (about −20 dB).

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Sentinel-1 Noise Suppression Algorithm for High-Wind-Speed Retrieval in Tropical Cyclones

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Sentinel-1 cross-polarization (cross-pol) SAR data, known for their unsaturated backscattering characteristics, hold strong potential for high-wind-speed retrieval in tropical cyclones (TCs).

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Demo 24-06 Polarization by Double Reflection

open access: yes, 2001
Polarization of light is obtained by using two reflections from dielectric plates, as in Figure 1. This demonstration illustrates the effect of double reflection on the polarization of an initially unpolarized light beam.

Wideband Cross Polarization Rotation Based on Reflective Anisotropic Surfaces

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper presents a new design to broaden polarization conversion ratio (PCR) bandwidth utilizing reflective surfaces. The proposed design is based on anisotropic surfaces for linearly polarized electromagnetic waves.

Omnipolar Magnetic Field Detection by Superlattice‐Based Hall Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐induced electronic switching is demonstrated in unit‐cell‐engineered La0.7Sr0.3MnO3–BiFeO3 superlattices. Distinct substrate terminations modify magnetic and transport properties. Hall resistance measurements show omnipolar, hysteretic anomalous Hall switching above the Curie temperature, arising from Fe─Mn interfacial exchange, enabling

Demo 24-04 Microwave Polarization

open access: yes, 2001
This demonstration illustrates one mechanism for the polarization of electromagnetic waves, using the apparatus as shown in Figure 1. The result is counterintuitive in that the waves that pass through the polarizer are polarized perpendicular to the ...

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...

A Miniaturized Ultra-Wideband Vivaldi Antenna With Low Cross Polarization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
A miniaturized ultra-wideband Vivaldi antenna is proposed in this paper. Optimized slots are inserted in the radiation patches to obtain a low frequency resonance.
