On the average crossing rates in selection diversity

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2007
This letter presents new results on the average crossing rate of the combined signal of a selection diversity in Rayleigh fading channels. Exact closed-form expressions are derived for the inphase zero crossing rate, inphase rate of maxima, phase zero crossing rate, and the instantaneous frequency zero crossing rate of the output of the selection ...

Generalized Nakagami-m Phase Crossing Rate

Anais do XXII Simpósio Brasileiro de Telecomunicações, 2005
This paper provides simple, exact, new closed-form expressions for the generalized phase crossing rate of Nakagami-m fading channels. Sample numerical results obtained by simulation are presented that validate the formulations developed here. A special case of this formulation is the Rayleigh case, whose result agrees with that obtained elsewhere in ...

Influence of Solvent on Carbene Intersystem Crossing Rates

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2008
The influence of coordinating solvents on singlet-to-triplet carbene intersystem crossing (ISC) rates has been studied with diphenylcarbene (DPC) and para-biphenyltrifluoromethylcarbene (BpCCF 3) by using ultrafast time-resolved spectroscopy. DPC has a triplet ground state in all of the solvents considered, and the concentration of singlet carbene at ...

Level Crossing Rates in Transmit Beamforming Systems

IEEE Communications Letters, 2007
In this paper, the second-order statistics of the signal to noise ratio (SNR) at the output of a multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) system employing maximal ratio combining (MRC) are analyzed. Exact expressions for the level crossing rate (LCR) and the average fade duration (AFD) are derived for the Rayleigh propagation and arbitrary channel matrix ...

Zero-crossing rates of functions of Gaussian processes

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1991
Summary: Formulas for the expected zero-crossing rates of random processes that are monotone transformations of Gaussian processes can be obtained using two different techniques. The first technique involves the derivation of the expected zero-crossing rate for discrete-time processes and extends the result to the continuous-time case by using an ...

Zero-crossing rates of mixtures and products of Gaussian processes

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1998
Summary: Formulas for the expected zero-crossing rate of non-Gaussian mixtures and products of Gaussian processes are obtained. The approach we take is to first derive the expected zero-crossing rate in discrete time and then obtain the rate in continuous time by an appropriate limiting argument.

Diffusive barrier crossing rates from variationally determined eigenvalues

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2021
Kramers’ procedure for calculating the rate of activated processes involves partitioning space into reactant, barrier, and product regions by introducing two dividing surfaces. Then, a nonequilibrium steady state is established by injecting particles on one surface and removing them when they reach the other.

Intersystem Crossing Rates of Isolated Fullerenes: Theoretical Calculations

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2017
Although the triplet states of fullerenes have prosperous applications, it remains unclear how the structural parameters of singlet and triplet states control the intersystem crossing (ISC) rates. Here, electronic structure calculations (reorganization energy, driving force, and spin-orbit coupling) and a rate theory (Marcus formula) are employed to ...

Correlations and Crossing Rates of Periodic-Stochastic Hydrologic Processes

Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2005
When a continuous valued hydrological series such as monthly stream flows is clipped by a constant or variable threshold series (such as water demand), a binary series may be obtained. Such a series may be useful for analyzing and modeling a variety of hydrological processes such as the occurrences of wet and dry days, deficit and surplus series, and ...

Time-dependent approaches for the calculation of intersystem crossing rates

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2011
We present three formulas for calculating intersystem crossing rates in the Condon approximation to the golden rule by means of a time-dependent approach: an expression using the full time correlation function which is exact for harmonic oscillators, a second-order cumulant expansion, and a short-time approximation of this expression.
