Pharmacokinetics Simulations for Studying Correlates of Prevention Efficacy of Passive HIV-1 Antibody Prophylaxis in the Antibody Mediated Prevention (AMP) Study [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
A key objective in two phase 2b AMP clinical trials of VRC01 is to evaluate whether drug concentration over time, as estimated by non-linear mixed effects pharmacokinetics (PK) models, is associated with HIV infection rate. We conducted a simulation study of marker sampling designs, and evaluated the effect of study adherence and sub-cohort sample size

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Measuring Security Price Performance Using Chilean Daily Stock Returns: The Event Study Method [PDF]

open access: yes
Following the Brown-Warner simulation approach and using Chilean daily security returns data, we examine the specification and power of three parametric t-tests commonly used in event-studies: the standardized, the cross-sectional and the porfolio t-test.

Association between anger management and cigarette consumption in adolescents

open access: yesRevista de la Facultad de Medicina, 2016
Introduction: Cigarette smoking in adolescents is associated with a set of variables such as sex, age, anxiety disorders, depression and secondhand smoke (parents, siblings and friends). However, the association between anger management and smoking among

Mapping Hsp104 interactions using cross‐linking mass spectrometry

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study examines how cross‐linking mass spectrometry can be utilized to analyze ATP‐induced conformational changes in Hsp104 and its interactions with substrates. We developed an analytical pipeline to distinguish between intra‐ and inter‐subunit contacts within the hexameric homo‐oligomer and discovered contacts between Hsp104 and a selected ...

A non‐fluorescent immunohistochemistry method for measuring autophagy flux using MAP1LC3/LC3 and SQSTM1 as core markers

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We introduce an immunohistochemistry method to measure autophagy flux, highlighting the active degradation and recycling of cellular waste. This cost‐effective approach uses tissue samples to track key markers like LC3 and SQSTM1, revealing how cells maintain health or respond to diseases such as cancer. It bridges the gap between research and clinical
