A likelihood method to cross-calibrate air-shower detectors
We present a detailed statistical treatment of the energy calibration of hybrid air-shower detectors, which combine a surface detector array and a fluorescence detector, to obtain an unbiased estimate of the calibration curve.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Radiometric Cross Calibration of HY-1C/COCTS Based on Sentinel-3/OLCI
The on-orbit radiometric calibration of spaceborne sensors is the foundation of quantitative remote sensing, and the calibration accuracy directly affects the quality of quantitative remote sensing products.

Summary of the 13th IACHEC Meeting [PDF]
We summarize the outcome of the 13th meeting of the International Astronomical Consortium for High Energy Calibration (IACHEC), held at Tenuta dei Ciclamini (Avigliano Umbro, Italy) in April 2018. Fifty-one scientists directly involved in the calibration

High-Energy Calibration of a BGO detector of the GLAST Burst Monitor [PDF]
The understanding of the instrumental response of the GLAST Burst Monitor BGO detectors at energies above the energy range which is accessible by common laboratory radiation sources (< 4.43 MeV), is important, especially for the later cross-calibration ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Cross Calibration of Imaging Air Cherenkov Telescopes with Fermi [PDF]
An updated model for the synchrotron and inverse Compton emission from a population of high energy electrons of the Crab Nebula is used to reproduce the measured spectral energy distribution from radio to high energy gamma-rays.

Photon-number statistics with Silicon photomultipliers
We present a description of the operation of a multi-pixel detector in the presence of non-negligible dark-count and cross-talk effects. We apply the model to devise self-consistent calibration strategies to be performed on the very light under ...
