COVID, Co-Ventilation, and Cross-contamination

Prehospital and Disaster Medicine, 2023
Introduction:During the COVID-19 pandemic, consideration was given to co-ventilating multiple patients on a single ventilator. Prior work had shown that this procedure was possible by ventilating four adult-size sheep for twenty-four hours, and other groups had performed this maneuver during dire circumstances.

THE CROSS-VENTILATED TUNNEL SMOKEHOUSE

Canadian Journal of Research, 1946
A tunnel smokehouse with an output of 3000 lb. of smoked fillets per nine hour day has been in operation about one year. The temperature, relative humidity, and smoke velocity are controlled at optimum values independent of climatic conditions. Hence the colour and shrinkage of the product may be standardized and losses from cooking and dropping of ...

Valley ventilation by cross winds

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1980
An initial thermal stratification may be swept out of a valley if a cross-wind is strong enough: the valley is then said to be ventilated. Numerical and laboratory experiments indicate that the critical parameter is the Froude number, , where is the mean horizontal velocity above the crest of the valley sides, N is the Brunt–Väisälä or bouyancy ...
