Regional lung ventilation during supraglottic and subglottic jet ventilation: A randomized cross-over trial

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Anesthesia
Test the hypothesis that the center of ventilation, a measure of ventro-dorsal atelectasis, is posterior during supraglottic ventilation indicating better dependent-lung ventilation. Secondarily, we tested the hypothesis that supraglottic ventilation improves oxygenation and carbon dioxide elimination.Supraglottic and subglottic jet ventilation are ...

Non‐Invasive Multidimensional Capacitive Sensing for In Vivo Traumatic Brain Injury Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Single‐electrode, multidimensional capacitive sensors noninvasively assess cerebral autoregulation and compliance for traumatic brain injury monitoring. ABSTRACT Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a major cause of death and disability, but invasive intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring is risky, and current non‐invasive methods lack the resolution and ...

Radiative Cooling by Green(er) Solvents‐Upcycled Polyvinyl Chloride From Drug Blisters Waste

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores upcycling poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) from used pharmaceutical blisters into sustainable radiative cooling materials. Using solvent separation and membrane fabrication, PVC was converted into white membranes paired with aluminum foil.

Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Improves Alveolar Development Impairment via Targeting VAMP8‐mediated SNAREs Complex Formation in Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study aims to evaluate the impact of the tryptophan‐derived metabolite indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) on lung development and autophagic flux. IPA alleviates hyperoxia‐induced alveolar arrest by promoting autophagosome‐lysosome fusion via inhibition of VAMP8 phosphorylation, which is suggestive of a promising therapeutic target of BPD.

Evaluation of Airborne Infection Risk in a School Using Multizone Simulation: Pathogen Transmission Between Students in Different Classrooms Through Corridors

open access: yesAerosol and Air Quality Research
Background Airborne infections in school environments are influenced not only by conditions within individual classrooms but also by pathogen transmission through shared spaces such as corridors. Effective ventilation strategies are essential to mitigate

Sleep Alters the Velocity of Physiological Brain Pulsations in Humans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep alters I/CSF oscillatory flow, driven by increased respiratory (29%) and vasomotor pulsation (21%) velocities, while cardiovascular pulsations decreased by (22%). Velocity is quantified using optical flow analysis of MREG data. Spectral power increases alongside these pulsations (spatial correlation, r = 0.35 and r = 0.39, respectively ...
