New forming possibilities in cross wedge rolling processes
Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, 2018Abstract The paper describes limitations in the process of cross wedge rolling (CWR). The problem of necking (rupture) of a shaft step is discussed in detail. In addition, the paper also overviews the state of the art of modelling the cross wedge rolling process by the finite element method-based software, Deform-3D.

For the rolling axle on Cross‐Wedge Rolling with Multi‐wedge, the key question is to guarantee the even distortion on each spot of the rolled pieces. In this paper, it has been taken that technological parameters of various wedges and the order of the rolling task completed by the third wedge as the design variable, the final rolled piece of the far ...

Numerical Simulation of Aluminum Alloy Connecting Rod with Multi-wedge Cross Wedge Rolling
2021The connecting rod is one of the most important parts in the engine, which plays a key role in the normal operation of the engine. High strength aluminum alloy was selected as raw materials for production in this program, and multi-wedge cross wedge rolling was applied for forming an engine connecting rod by numerical simulation, to explore the ...

Study of the process stability of cross wedge rolling
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1999The process stability and acceptable quality of forgings should be assured during properly designed cross wedge rolling (CWR). As shown in industrial practice, the slipping occurring between the forging being formed and a tool segment is the most important factor disturbing the CWR process. Furthermore, forging necking (in the case of conventional CWR)

FEM Simulation Analysis of Cross Wedge Rolling Process
Advanced Materials Research, 2011This paper investigates the interfacial slip between the forming tool and workpiece in a relatively new metal forming process, cross-wedge rolling. Based on the finite elements method, three-dimensional mechanical model of cross wedge rolling process has been developed.

Theoretical and experimental analysis of cross wedge rolling process
International Journal of Machine Tools and Manufacture, 2000A summary of the cross wedge rolling process (CWR) modelling method being developed by the author is presented in the present study. The forming zone has been divided into several layers to calculate their contact pressure as in the case of the rotational compression process.
