ComBatLS: A Location‐ and Scale‐Preserving Method for Multi‐Site Image Harmonization

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 46, Issue 8, June 1, 2025.
We introduce ComBatLS, a new harmonization method that preserves the effects of biological covariates like sex and age on brain feature distributions' variances or scale parameters. We show that ComBatLS harmonization produces more accurate normative models and individual scores than other methods while removing batch effects. ABSTRACT Recent study has

Modelling Volatility Cycles: The MF2‐GARCH Model

open access: yesJournal of Applied Econometrics, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 438-454, June/July 2025.
ABSTRACT We propose a novel multiplicative factor multi‐frequency GARCH (MF2‐GARCH) model, which exploits the empirical fact that the daily standardized forecast errors of one‐component GARCH models are predictable by a moving average of past standardized forecast errors.

Quantification of Skeletal Muscle at the First Lumbar Level for Prognosis in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 16, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Skeletal muscle parameters at the first lumbar vertebra (L1) level on computed tomography (CT) are common indicators for muscle mass. However, their relationship with the severity and prognosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients remains unclear.

Water Soluble Thermoresponsive Single‐Chain Cyclized/Knotted Polymers from Intramolecular Cyclization Dominated Homopolymerization of PEG Diacrylate

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 46, Issue 12, June 20, 2025.
A series of water‐soluble, PEG‐based single‐chain cyclized/knotted polymers are successfully synthesized via the homopolymerization of PEGDA (Mn = 575 and 700 g mol⁻¹, respectively), facilitated by enhanced intramolecular cyclization. These cyclized polymers feature a high cyclization ratio and possess numerous pendant vinyl groups, providing excellent

Considerations and recommendations from the ISMRM Diffusion Study Group for preclinical diffusion MRI: Part 3—Ex vivo imaging: Data processing, comparisons with microscopy, and tractography

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 93, Issue 6, Page 2561-2582, June 2025.
Abstract Preclinical diffusion MRI (dMRI) has proven value in methods development and validation, characterizing the biological basis of diffusion phenomena, and comparative anatomy. While dMRI enables in vivo non‐invasive characterization of tissue, ex vivo dMRI is increasingly being used to probe tissue microstructure and brain connectivity.

Considerations and recommendations from the ISMRM diffusion study group for preclinical diffusion MRI: Part 1: In vivo small‐animal imaging

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 93, Issue 6, Page 2507-2534, June 2025.
Abstract Small‐animal diffusion MRI (dMRI) has been used for methodological development and validation, characterizing the biological basis of diffusion phenomena, and comparative anatomy. The steps from animal setup and monitoring, to acquisition, analysis, and interpretation are complex, with many decisions that may ultimately affect what questions ...
