Almost 90% of the region's Indigofera species belong to the Cape Clade, while the remaining species are scattered among the other three globally distributed Indigofera clades.

Ecology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2024.A generalist herbivore, the gopher tortoise, becomes more frugivorous intra‐annually, following seasonal precipitation. As it increasingly becomes frugivorous, it disperses seeds exhibiting very different dispersal syndromes. At high levels of frugivory, this species behaves as a classical frugivore with regard to the types of seeds it disperses.
