Crowd Data Visualization and Simulation
Abstract Simulating large and complex urban environments for real-time simulation poses multiple challenges which are not trivial to solve, for instance, gathering information of geometry for cities to be displayed, management of large quantities of data and fetching efficiently the information needed for the simulation and visualization of virtual ...

Nanothermometry in Living Cells: Physical Limits, Conceptual and Material Challenges
Heat and temperature are fundamental to life. When nanothermometers began probing regions as small as a living cell, they triggered controversial claims of large intracellular temperature gradients. We review physical constraints energy‐conservation, entropy production, thermodynamic fluctuations, and molecular dynamics.

Sensitivity Analysis for Microscopic Crowd Simulation
Microscopic crowd simulation can help to enhance the safety of pedestrians in situations that range from museum visits to music festivals. To obtain a useful prediction, the input parameters must be chosen carefully. In many cases, a lack of knowledge or

Scalable behaviors for crowd simulation [PDF]
Abstract Crowd simulation for virtual environments offers many challenges centered on the trade‐offs between rich behavior, control and computational cost. In this paper we present a new approach to controlling the behavior of agents in a crowd. Our method is scalable in the sense that increasingly complex crowd behaviors can be created without a ...

GREIL-Crowds: Crowd Simulation with Deep Reinforcement Learning and Examples
Simulating crowds with realistic behaviors is a difficult but very important task for a variety of applications. Quantifying how a person balances between different conflicting criteria such as goal seeking, collision avoidance and moving within a group is not intuitive, especially if we consider that behaviors differ largely between people.

Curvature‐Tuned Friction at Electrified Ionic Liquid Interfaces
Graphene curvature plays a key role in friction electrotunability at single‐asperity contacts lubricated by ionic liquids. A 9 nm radius yields stronger tunability than larger radii, with distinct friction coefficients at low and high loads indicating a shift in the slippage plane.

End-to-end Learning of Driving Models from Large-scale Video Datasets
Robust perception-action models should be learned from training data with diverse visual appearances and realistic behaviors, yet current approaches to deep visuomotor policy learning have been generally limited to in-situ models learned from a single ...

Improved crowd psychological model and control [PDF]
The behavior of human crowd is an interesting phenomenon in which individuals are set as a collection that comprises of a highly dynamic social group. The crowd behaviors have been investigated by researchers over the years.
