Including tree spatial extension in the evaluation of neighborhood competition effects in Bornean rain forest

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Classical tree neighborhood models use size variables acting at point distances. In a new approach here, trees were spatially extended as a function of their crown sizes, represented impressionistically as points within crown areas.

Early synapsids neurosensory diversity revealed by CT and synchrotron scanning

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Non‐mammaliaform synapsids (NMS) represent the closest relatives of today's mammals among the early amniotes. Exploring their brain and nervous system is key to understanding how mammals evolved. Here, using CT and Synchrotron scanning, we document for the first time three extreme cases of neurosensory and behavioral adaptations that probe ...

Influence of scattered trees in grazing areas on soil properties in the Piedmont region of the Colombian Amazon.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Trees dispersed in grazing areas are contribute to the sustainability of livestock systems. The interactions between trees and soil are ecological processes that allow the modification of the biology, fertility, and physics of the soil.

Histology and fossil diagenesis of a pterosaur tooth from the Crato Formation (Lower Cretaceous of Brazil)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Pterosaur dental biology remains poorly understood despite its importance for comprehending feeding strategies and flight adaptations. Here, we present the first comprehensive histological analysis of an ornithocheiriform pterosaur tooth from the Lower Cretaceous Crato Formation (Santana Group, Northeast Brazil).

Crown rust pathotypes determined on oats in the Czech Republic from 2004 to 2006 and reaction to oat cultivars

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2008
The incidence of oat crown rust (Puccinia coronata var. avenae Fraser et Ledingham) pathotypes was recorded in the Czech Republic in 2004-2006. The virulence of collected 79 monopustule oat crown rust isolates was assessed on 23 differentials.

Automated Feature Extraction and Classification of Submerged Cultural Heritage Assets in the Puck Lagoon via Multisensor Remote Sensing

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study presents a strong framework for the detection and classification of Submerged Cultural Heritage Assets (SCHA) in shallow marine environments using the integration of multibeam echosounder and airborne LiDAR bathymetry with object‐based image analysis and fuzzy logic–based classification.

One‐Step Electrodeposition of Iron Oxyhydroxide Onto 3D Porous Graphene Substrates for on Chip Asymmetric Micro‐Supercapacitors

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
A micro‐supercapacitor with electrodeposited iron oxyhydroxide (FeOOH) as the negative electrode and birnessite manganese oxide (MnO2) as the positive electrode achieves a 2 V working voltage, stable cycling in an aqueous electrolyte, and high energy and power densities of 21 μWh cm‐2 and 2.5 mW cm‐2 respectively.

Relationships between the parameters of aboveground parts and the parameters of root plates in Norway spruce with respect to soil drainage

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2010
The aboveground parameters and the parameters of root plates in uprooted Norway spruce trees (Picea abies [L.] Karst.) were measured in the Hnile Blata locality (the High Tatras Mts.) (waterlogged sites) and in the Zemska locality (Low Tatras Mts.) (well-

Graphite Co‐Intercalation Chemistry in Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
Traditional intercalation chemistry in lithium‐ion batteries cannot allow sodium storage in graphite. The co‐intercalation chemistry changes the situation. It enables reversible and ultrafast sodium storage in graphite. Revisiting challenges and summarizing recent advances are of significant importance to exploit the full potential of graphite in ...
