Taxonomy of Chemical Bondings: Opportunities and Challenges

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The recent focus on supramolecular and nanosized systems produced a major increase in the types of observed noncovalent interactions and in the diversity of terms used to designate them. A hierarchical categorization (taxonomy) of terms used to designate electrophile···nucleophile interactions is proposed here.

The Crown

open access: yesFederal Law Review, 2000
“…the concept of the Crown is…deeply ambiguous.”The ambiguity surrounding the concept of the Crown stems from the very many functions that it has been required to perform. One tends to forget that it is merely a type of hat, as Maitland and Lord Simon have observed, so bound up in the symbolism of that headgear has the word become.

Mast years increase wind pollination and reduce seed predation in sugar maple (Acer saccharum)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise In general, mast seeding (intermittent and synchronous seed production) increases plant fitness through economies of scale in which reproduction is more successful in high‐seed years. These benefits have been most studied in wind‐pollinated trees.

Orthodontic management of amelogenesis imperfecta: A case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Key Clinical Message Amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) is a rare developmental anomaly characterized by poorly developed or absent tooth enamel, which complicates orthodontic treatment due to weak enamel‐bracket bond strength.

Eleven-Year Follow-Up of a Prospective Study of Zirconia Implant Abutments Supporting Single All-Ceramic Crowns in Anterior and Premolar Regions.

open access: yesClinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, 2015
BACKGROUND Clinical studies on zirconia abutments report very good survival rates and biological and technical results, but few have an observation period of more than 5 years.

Dinitrogen Activation with Low‐Valent Strontium

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Although computationally predicted, N2 activation with an in situ generated low‐valent β‐diketiminate (BDI) SrI precursor did not result in a stable complex. First dinitrogen fixation with Sr was achieved using a heterobimetallic approach. This highly reducing product vigorously reacts with Teflon.

Solvent‐Directed Handedness in a Chirally Twisted Tetrakisporphyrin Macrocycle

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A chirally twisted tetrakisporphyrin macrocycle was synthesized by incorporating a chiral dioxolane into a tetrakisporphyrin macrocycle. The solvent type influenced the preferred handedness of the twisted conformation. Circular dichroism measurements and computational analyses determined the handedness of the conformers in solvents toluene and ...

Fracture Strength of Aged Monolithic and Bilayer Zirconia-Based Crowns

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2015
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of design and surface finishing on fracture strength of yttria-tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) crowns in monolithic (1.5 mm thickness) and bilayer (0.8 mm zirconia coping and 0.7 mm porcelain ...
