The inherent chirality, tunability, biocompatibility, and robustness of peptides provide an exciting opportunity for supramolecular chemistry. In this mini‐review, we explore uses of peptides in discrete supramolecular systems, how chemists can draw inspiration from larger biological assemblies, and discuss how embracing the complexity of peptide ...

Two series of 18‐crown‐6‐ether directed one‐dimensional silver(I) coordination polymers (1D Ag(I) CPs) have been prepared and structurally characterized. Novel and effective strategies were used to prevent intermolecular interactions within each 1D Ag(I) CP, thereby enhancing their photoluminescence at room temperature.

Feedstock‐Derived Thiophene Radical Anions Exhibiting Redox Stability at Extreme Potentials
Although organic redox systems are emerging as next‐generation energy storage media, stability at high cell voltage is often achieved at the expense of synthetic accessibility. Here, we isolate and characterize a feedstock‐derived thiophene radical anion bearing simple ester groups.

Grass functional traits reflect the long history of fire and grazers in the savannas of Texas
Abstract Premise Understanding relationships among grass traits, fire, and herbivores may help improve conservation strategies for savannas that are threatened by novel disturbance regimes. Emerging theory, developed in Africa, emphasizes that functional traits of savanna grasses reflect the distinct ways that fire and grazers consume biomass ...

Functionalized Calix[4]Nanocones
Herein we present a synthesis of a nanocone based on a calix[4]arene, which has additional functional groups at the peripheral rims. Due to its rigid structure in combination with alkoxy groups on both the upper and the lower rim, the nanocone was tested for the binding of alkaline ions in solution. It exhibits high selectivity for binding Na+ over Li+

Solvent‐Directed Handedness in a Chirally Twisted Tetrakisporphyrin Macrocycle
A chirally twisted tetrakisporphyrin macrocycle was synthesized by incorporating a chiral dioxolane into a tetrakisporphyrin macrocycle. The solvent type influenced the preferred handedness of the twisted conformation. Circular dichroism measurements and computational analyses determined the handedness of the conformers in solvents toluene and ...

An unexpected regio‐ and chemoselectivity was found for nucleophilic fluorination of a terminal vicinal dimesylate. Theoretical calculations were used to explain the origin of this effect. Abstract The control of chemoselectivity and regioselectivity in chemical reactions is a crucial area of research, focused on achieving the desired product with high
