Practical strain extensometry for biaxial cruciform specimens—Part 1
Strain, 1985Of a number of methods for testing materials under biaxial stress conditions, the cruciform specimen with tension/compression loading of the arms allows exploration of the whole in‐plane failure envelope. This paper highlights the problems arising in the measuring, monitoring and control of strains in cruciform specimens subject to static and cyclic ...

On-Line Structural Health Monitoring and Prognosis of a Biaxial Cruciform Specimen
50th AIAA/ASME/ASCE/AHS/ASC Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 2009The current research of on-line damage state estimation techniques offers adaptive damage state prediction and residual useful life assessment. The real-time damage state information from an on-line state estimation model can be regularly fed to a predictive model to update the residual useful life estimation in the event of a changing situation.

Fatigue damage prediction of cruciform specimen under biaxial loading
Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2012This article investigates an energy-based multiscale damage criterion for a biaxial loading case. The criterion incorporates crystal plasticity at the microscale that produces a damage tensor, representing the local damage state derived from a least squares method.

Stain Distribution in a Biaxially Loaded Cruciform Composite Specimen
2008At the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, a plane biaxial device has been developed for testing of cruciform specimens. One of the aims of doing biaxial experiments is the determination of the failure envelopes. Obtaining the present stresses is not easy, so strain measurements become more important. In this paper, full field measuring techniques like Digital
