Acceleration of Phase‐Modulated Ultrashort Echo Time Sequence for Fast T2 and Adiabatic T1ρ Mapping of the Knee Joints

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop and validate an accelerated phase‐modulated ultrashort echo time (PM‐UTE) sequence for volumetric T2 and adiabatic T1ρ (AdiabT1ρ) mapping of both short‐ and long‐T2 tissues in the knee joint. Methods The proposed method estimates and removes the T1‐dependent component from a single reference acquisition, eliminating repeated

A comparison of punching shear strengthening of RC flat plates with FRP bars and steel bolts

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
This study investigated the behavior of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP), aramid fiber-reinforced polymer (AFRP) bars and steel bolts as post-installed shear reinforcements for strengthening flat plate structures to evaluate their cost and ...

Behaviour of composite solid propellant under biaxial tensile loading

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2023
Biaxial tensile tests were carried out on cruciform specimens of composite solid propellants. Digital Image Correlation (DIC) was used to measure the strain in the gage section. Experiments were conducted at displacement rates of 1, 50 and 1000 mm/min (Y

Design of Cruciform Specimens for Biaxial testing of Composites [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Composites Letters, 1992
Orthotropic finite element analysis was used to design a cruciform specimen for use in biaxial testing of fiber reinforced composites. Several notch designs were investigated and the optimal specimen shape was chosen as the one in which failure would more likely occur in the gage section rather than across the cruciform arms.

Courtship display behavior influences tail myology in Centrocercus minimus (Gunnison sage‐grouse)

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Courtship displays among birds are widespread, particularly those which incorporate raised tail feathers for extended periods of time. The Gunnison sage‐grouse (Centrocercus minimus) is such a species. When we compared the tail muscles of the sage‐grouse to birds which do not engage in erected tail fan postures, both morphology proportional mass ...

Identification of Sheet Metal Constitutive Parameters Using Metamodeling of the Biaxial Tensile Test on a Cruciform Specimen

open access: yesMetals
An identification strategy based on a machine learning approach is proposed to identify the constitutive parameters of metal sheets. The main novelty lies in the use of Gaussian Process Regression with the objective of identifying the constitutive ...

Technical note on an ovine model to study biomedical implants intended for maxillofacial reconstruction

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To describe a repeated‐measures model permitting evaluation of up to four implants intended for maxillofacial applications in sheep. Animals Two‐year‐old Merino wethers (n = 5). Methods A retromandibular subparotid approach was developed through anatomical study of atlases, predissected models and cadaveric experiments.

Multiaxial Creep-Fatigue Using Cruciform Specimen at High Temperature.

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Materials Science, Japan, 1997
This paper describes the creep-fatigue damage evaluation of SUS 304 stainless steel in wide ranges of multiaxial stress and strain states. Low cycle fatigue and creep-fatigue tests were carried out using a cruciform specimen in a full range of strain biaxiality including equi-biaxial tension/compression at 823K and 873K.
