Impact of nickel and iron on PWR zirconium alloy surface CRUD formation and boron precipitation

open access: yesHe jishu, 2022
BackgroundCorrosion products will deposit on the surfaces of PWR (pressurized water reactor) zirconium alloy to form CRUD (chalk rivers unidentified deposit), the precipitated boron will cause axial power distribution anomaly and affect the core safety ...

Insect Lipids as Novel Source for Future Applications: Chemical Composition and Industry Applications-A Comprehensive Review. [PDF]

open access: yesFood Sci Nutr
Fat body (FB) acts as a major metabolic center important for the regulation of a variety of physiological processes such as embryogenesis, reproduction, flight, overwintering, protection, and communication. Lipid amounts and fatty acid (FA) composition vary with species, stage of life, and their diet.

Chemical composition of crud depositing on BWR fuel surfaces.

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1987
Deposition profiles of corrosion products on fuel surfaces and products chemical compositions were determined at Shimane Nuclear Power Plant, a low-crud BWR. The deposited amounts were expressed as functions of crud concentration in the reactor water, fuel burnup and flow velocity in a fuel channel.

Analysis of cladding failure in a BWR fuel rod using a SLICE-DO model of the FALCON code

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2020
Cladding failure in a fuel rod during operation in a BWR is analyzed using a FALCON code-based model. Comparative calculation with a neighbouring, intact rod is presented, as well.

An integrated framework for the prediction of axial offset anomaly in pressurized water reactors [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fluid Engineering
During the operation of pressurized water reactors, erosion products can be deposited on the surfaces of the fuel rods, and these deposits lead to enrichment of boric acid, which influences the power distribution along the axial direction and results in ...

BOTANI: High-fidelity multiphysics model for boron chemistry in CRUD deposits

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2021
We develop a new high-fidelity multiphysics model to simulate boron chemistry in the porous Chalk River Unidentified Deposit (CRUD) deposits. Heat transfer, capillary flow, solute transport, and chemical reactions are fully coupled. The evaporation of coolant in the deposits is included in governing equations modified by the volume-averaged assumption ...

Effect of TiN Coating on the Fouling Behavior of Crud on Pressurized Water Reactor Fuel Cladding

open access: yes, 2021
A titanium nitride film was applied to mitigate the deposition of fouling deposits (crud) on pressurized water reactor fuel cladding. Titanium nitride was chosen as it reduces the van der Waals force, believed to be the dominant surface force at ...

‘Elbow grease and yellow soap’: Housework time in working‐class households in late‐nineteenth and early twentieth‐century Britain

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract Housework is central to feminist calls for recognition of women's work, economic histories explaining the sexual division of labour, and claims regarding the progressive role of scientific knowledge. Yet little is known about the time it actually took. We address this lacuna.

CRUD growth on fuel rod bundles under oscillatory conditions

open access: yesHe jishu
BackgroundOscillatory conditions significantly affect the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of floating reactors, leading to changes in the growth of chalk river unidentified deposit (CRUD).PurposeThis study aims to investigates CRUD growth on fuel rod ...
