Hospital Care and the Conception of Death in the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God in Sixteenth‐ and Seventeenth‐Century Spain

open access: yesNursing Inquiry, Volume 32, Issue 3, July 2025.
ABSTRACT This article explores the hospital care provided by the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God in sixteenth‐ and seventeenth‐century Spain, with particular emphasis on its conception of end‐of‐life care. Rooted in a context deeply shaped by Christian spirituality, the Order developed a holistic model grounded in charity, justice, and profound ...

Study of a thick CRUD on irradiated fuel rod: correlating thermodynamic calculations and X-ray characterizations

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
A significantly elevated layer of so-called CRUD (corrosion deposit) was observed on the surface of a boiling water reactor irradiated fuel rod, potentially leading to hot spots and subsequent cladding rupture.

Mesoporous WO3‐Dot‐Decorated Flexible Electrodes for the Determination of Industrial Pollutants

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 8, Issue 2, March 2025.
We demonstrate a mesoporous WO3 dot‐decorated flexible polyimide electrode for the highly sensitive detection of two environmental pollutants, catechol (CC) and hydroquinone (HQ) by experiment and computational calculations. It exhibited outstanding performance in terms of high sensitivity, wide linear range, and low detection limit in simultaneous ...

Development and Verification of a Spatial Dynamics Code RESTA‐3D for Light Water Reactors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
A neutronics/thermal‐hydraulics (TH) coupled spatial dynamics code, reactor system transient analysis‐three dimensional (RESTA‐3D), has been developed for both static and transient analysis of large advanced light water reactors (LWRs), with a focus on control rod (CR) ejection accidents.

A High Fidelity Multiphysics Framework for Modeling CRUD Deposition on PWR Fuel Rods. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Corrosion products on the fuel cladding surfaces within pressurized water reactor fuel assemblies have had a significant impact on reactor operation. These types of deposits are referred to as CRUD and can lead to power shifts, as a consequence of the ...
