Anaerobic treatment of crude glycerol from biodiesel production
In this study, we evaluated the use of an up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor to treat crude glycerol obtained from cottonseed biodiesel production. The laboratory-scale UASB reactor (7.0 L) was operated at ambient temperature of 26.5°C with chemical oxygen demand (COD) concentrations between 0.5 and 8.0 g/L.

Crude glycerol and glycerol as fuels and fuel additives in combustion applications
Biodiesels as renewable fuels are important in approaching low-carbon transportation. One critical challenge associated with biodiesel production is the utilization of crude glycerol, an abundant waste byproduct from which glycerol can be obtained via refinement, to maximize economic and environmental benefits.

Co-Gasification of Crude Glycerol/Animal Fat Mixtures [PDF]
The aim of this work was to assess the technical viability of glycerol/fat co-gasification. The gasification performance was studied in a downflow fixed bed reactor using activated alumina particles as bed material and steam as oxidizing agent. The effect of gasification temperature, from 800 to 950 °C was studied with a feed mixture with 10% (w/w) of ...

A new bacterial strain was isolated from Atlantic rainforest in Brazil for polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production utilizing crude glycerol from biodiesel industry (CG) and it was identified as Pandoraea sp. MA03. Shake flask experiments were performed at 10–50 g L−1 carbon source and showed the best values of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (P3HB) production ...

ATP13A2 is involved in intracellular polyamine transport in lung epithelial cells
Spermidine transport in lung epithelial cells involves the polyamine transporter ATP13A2. Cell proliferation is associated with the upregulation of ATP13A2. Polyamines are present in all living cells and are implicated in various crucial cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis and autophagy.
