Crude-Oil-Repellent Membranes by Atomic Layer Deposition: Oxide Interface Engineering

open access: yesACS Nano, 2018
Crude oil fouling on membrane surfaces is a persistent, crippling challenge in oil spill remediation and oilfield wastewater treatment. In this research, we present how a nanosized oxide coating can profoundly affect the anti-crude-oil property of ...

THE COLLOIDAL STABILITY OF CRUDE OILS AND CRUDE OIL RESIDUES

Petroleum Science and Technology, 1999
A crude oil and three residues of the crude oil processing were investigated by determination of flocculation points of both the product solutions and the original products. Diverse analytical methods were used for characterizing products and their fractions.

Biodegradation of Crude Oils

1991
Petroleum from well sites in the Gifhorn Trough (Lower Saxony, NW-Germany) and the Maracaibo Basin (Venezuela) contained various types of microorganisms capable of degrading crude oils. Genetically related oils were inoculated with the isolated microorganisms and the degradation of the oils was followed by chromatographic techniques.

Uncertainty and Crude Oil Returns [PDF]

open access: possibleSSRN Electronic Journal, 2015
We use a copula approach to investigate the effect of uncertainty on crude-oil returns. Using copulas to construct multivariate distributions of time-series data permit the calculation of the dependence structure between the series independently of the marginal distributions.

Determination of Hydrocarbons in Seawater Extracts of Crude Oil and Crude Oil Fractions

Nature, 1971
IN spite of very convincing evidence to the contrary, crude oil and oil products are still occasionally considered to be “insoluble” in aqueous systems. In view of recent reports of major ecological disruptions caused by oil pollution1,2, it seemed imperative to collect more data on the solubility of oil and oil products in water systems3,4.

Crude Oil, Crude Money

2019
Tells the untold story of how Exxon, Mobil, Chevron, and Texaco teamed up with the CIA and Department of State to thwart the plans of Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, who almost managed to reshape the Middle East. In 1954 Aristotle Onassis (long before he married Jacqueline Kennedy) made a bold business gamble: he tried to corner the

Seasonality in crude oil returns

Soft Computing, 2019
This paper explores the efficiency issue of the oil market in order to test the seasonal behavior of oil price returns, specifically day-of-the-week effect and month-of-the-year effect for the period December 1987 to January 2016. We use a dummy variable regression estimation technique to test seasonal anomalies for the Brent and WTI crude oil returns.

Biodegradability and crude oil composition

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1974
Four crude oils (Prudhoe Bay, Norman Wells, Atkinson Point, and Lost Horse Hill) of different chemical composition were tested as to their biodegradability under mesophilic and psychrophilic conditions. Changes in bacterial numbers and chemical composition of the oils were monitored using a plate count and chromatographic technique respectively ...

Crude oil utilization by fungi

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1979
Sixty fungal isolates, 34 obtained by a static enrichment technique from soils of northern Canadian oil-producing areas and 26 from culture collections, were screened for their ability to grow on n-tetradecane, toluene, naphthalene, and seven crude oils of varying composition.
