Application of Probabilistic Graphical Models in Forecasting Crude Oil Price [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
The dissertation investigates the application of Probabilistic Graphical Models (PGMs) in forecasting the price of Crude Oil. This research is important because crude oil plays a very pivotal role in the global economy hence is a very critical macroeconomic indicator of the industrial growth.

Unified scaling model for viscosity of crude oil over extended temperature range [PDF]

open access: yesFuel 379 (2025) 133018
The viscosity of crude oil is an important physical property that largely determines the fluidity of oil and its ability to seep through porous media such as geological rock. Predicting crude oil viscosity requires the development of reliable models that can reproduce viscosity over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. Such viscosity models must

Covalent Adaptable Networks with Associative Siloxane Exchange Enabled by Amide‐Based Internal Catalysis: Designing for Reprocessability and Extrudability by Increasing the Cross‐Link Density

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Internally catalyzed siloxane dynamic chemistry is demonstrated resulting from amides covalently linked through alkyl chains to siloxanes. The alkyl length in the siloxane‐containing monomer tunes the network cross‐link density. Siloxane exchange dynamics are faster with increasing cross‐link density, because associative exchange is second order in ...

Surface modified mesoporous g-C3N4@FeNi3 as prompt and proficient magnetic adsorbent for crude oil recovery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Efficient oil adsorption and recovery is a generous universal importance for future energy demand and environmental protection. Adsorbents based on 2D flatland with engineered surfaces can overcome the limitations of conventional methods for selective oil adsorption. Here, we report magnetic hydrophobic/oleophilic graphitic C3N4 nanosheets that exhibit

Carbon‐Based Flexible Electrode for Efficient Electrochemical Generation of Reactive Chlorine Species in Tumor Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible electrode loaded with a carbon nanowire network (CC@C‐NWN) is developed for electrochemically generating reactive chlorine species (RCS) from abundant chloride ions in body fluids for tumor therapy. CC@C‐NWN enhances chlorine evolution, inducing redox dysregulation and synergistic apoptosis‐ferroptosis in tumor cells.

Microbial Utilization of Crude Oil [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Microbiology, 1972
The utilization of two crude oil samples of different quality at 4 and 30 C has been studied by using pure and mixed bacterial cultures obtained by enrichment procedures. Growth, emulsification, and utilization occurred readily at both temperatures.

Effect of polymeric additives on ignition, combustion and flame characteristics and soot deposits of crude oil droplets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Many oil fires have resulted from the crude oil train derailments in recent years. Given the importance of crude oil shipping by rail to the energy security of the US, it is important to consider various methods that will decrease the likelihood of crude oil catching fire in case of a crude oil derailment.

Modeling the Effect of Oil Price on Global Fertilizer Prices [PDF]

open access: yes
The main purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effect of crude oil price on global fertilizer prices in both the mean and volatility. The endogenous structural breakpoint unit root test, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model, and alternative

Erosion-corrosion maps for carbon steel in crude oil/water slurries : impact angle and applied potential effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In studies of erosion-corrosion, there have been few investigations into the effect of tribological issues, such as particle impact and impact angle, on erosion-corrosion of materials in oil field production.

Pushing Radiative Cooling Technology to Real Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 23, June 12, 2025.
Radiative cooling controls surface optical properties for solar and thermal radiation, offering solutions for global warming and energy savings. Despite significant advances, key challenges remain: optimizing optical efficiency, maintaining aesthetics, preventing overcooling, enhancing durability, and enabling scalable production.
