Diets made from natural ingredients were fed to four inbred strains of mice (BALB/cAnN, C3H/HeN, C57BL/6N and DBA/2N) to study the effects of different concentrations of dietary crude protein, 18% and 24% with crude fat concentrations of 4%, 8%, and 12% on reproduction and weanling growth. The parameters measured included the number of litters and pups

A rapid determination of methionine in crude proteins
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1959Abstract A procedure for the determination of the methionine content of proteins in 1 hour, including hydrolysis time, is described. The procedure also permits the analysis of relatively impure samples in this brief period giving good results in agreement with the literature and with samples analyzed by standard procedures.

Crude Protein in Rumen Contents and in Forage
Journal of Range Management, 1966of squirreltail, which could possibly result in a positive relationship. Summary Selective phenoxy sprays applied to broom snakeweed and Cooper actinea reduced the weight of these half-shrubs on study plots about 90 and 60%, respectively. As a result of reductions in half-shrubs, blue grama on the treated plots increased 14 to 38% over the untreated ...

Accumulation of crude protein and oil contents
Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1977Abstract and SummaryThe crude fat content of whole seed and the crude protein level of defatted embryos were monitored on successive days after pollination. Seed of Buffalo gourd,Curcurbita foetidissima HBK, harvested during September–October, 1976, obtained a maximum oil and protein level in 38 to 42 days after pollination.

THE CRUDE‐PROTEIN CONTENT OF ITALIAN RYEGRASS
Grass and Forage Science, 1961The effects of variety, date of cutting flush growth and level of nitrogenous manuring on the crude‐protein content of Italian ryegrass were studied on plots cut five times in 1958.Raising the level of nitrogenous fertilizer from 174 lb. to 348 1b. N/acre reduced the percentage of dry matter from 0·5 to 2·0 and increased the percentage of crude protein

Protein Isolation and Preparation of Crude Extract
1995The initial step in protein isolation from its source is to physically or chemically disrupt the biological tissue or organism in order to release the protein into the extract. In some cases, the organism secretes the protein, and cell disruption is unnecessary.

Quantitative Determination of Proteins in Crude Extracts
1991The determination of the exact protein concentration in crude extracts of tissues or cells is not a trivial undertaking. Unfortunately, very few methods are available that allow the determination on a routine basis of the absolute amount of protein in mixtures (c.f. Peterson, 1983).
