Effect of Crumb Rubber Modifier Dissolution on Storage Stability of Crumb Rubber–Modified Asphalt
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2013Crumb rubber–modified asphalt (CRMA) extensively suffers from high-temperature storage instability. Because of the higher density of the crumb rubber modifier (CRM) particles, they settle down to the bottom of storage tanks and cause variation between physical properties of the top and bottom samples.

Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2013
This investigation reports the influence of the type of binder and crumb rubber gradation and dosage rate on the creep and recovery properties of crumb rubber modified bitumen (CRMB). Two types of binders, air blown and blended, were used with two gradations of crumb rubber, fine and coarse, at three dosage rates, 8, 10, and 12%.

Plankton filtration with compressible crumb rubber packs
Chemosphere, 2011The experiments described provide insight into the feasibility of using compressible particulate packs to filter live plankton. The pore constriction sizes are controlled by subjecting the filter pack to isotropic confinement, thereby allowing for: (1) enhanced filtration upon confinement and (2) enhanced unclogging upon relaxation.

Zinc Leaching from Tire Crumb Rubber
Environmental Science & Technology, 2012Because tires contain approximately 1-2% zinc by weight, zinc leaching is an environmental concern associated with civil engineering applications of tire crumb rubber. An assessment of zinc leaching data from 14 studies in the published literature indicates that increasing zinc leaching is associated with lower pH and longer leaching times, but the ...

A Comparative Study on the Characteristics of Crumb Rubber with Commercial Rubbers
2021There is abundant amount of polymeric materials produced and used every day. After their usage period, only little amount is being recycled or reused. The recycled polymeric material has several properties similar to or better than that of the virgin, and their usage as a final product is cost-effective.

Adding crumb rubber into exterior wall materials
Waste Management & Research: The Journal for a Sustainable Circular Economy, 2002In Arizona US, most houses are built with walls covered by stuccos/coatings/mortars. This paper presents an explorative investigation of adding crumb rubber into stuccos/coatings/mortars. A series of experiments are conducted to examine the thermal and mechanical performance of the crumb rubber mixes.

The biological and chemical desulfurization of crumb rubber for the rubber compounding
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1999The disposal of used car tires has become a major environmental problem, especially in densely populated countries that use motor vehicles as the principle means of transportation. Widespread recycling of waste tires has not taken place because it has not proven to be cost effective.

Crumb Rubber-Bitumen Interactions: Diffusion of Bitumen into Rubber
Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering, 2004A method for reusing discarded tires is to process them into crumb-sized particles for use in flexible pavement applications by incorporating crumb rubber (known as crumb rubber modifier) into asphalt mixtures. Understanding of the interaction between rubber and bitumen is an important requirement.
