Effect of Polymer Additives on Improvement of Concrete Properties

open access: yesAdvances in Polymer Technology, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
This article presents a review of achievements in the research aimed at improving the main building material—concrete—along with its physical, mechanical, and operational properties. As is well known, in the near future, the role of concrete will continue to be primary in the construction of buildings and structures due to increasing demand.

Thermal Effect on Bond Strength of Rubberized Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Sections

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2020
This study aims to assess the effect of high temperature on the bond strength of Concrete Filled Steel Tubular (CFST) sections incorporating crumb rubber particles as partial replacement of fine aggregates in concrete core. High daily temperatures; as in

Experimental Investigation of Longitudinal Shear in Composite Slabs Using Innovated Shear Connectors

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Composite slabs are widely used in modern construction because of their structural efficiency, cost‐effectiveness, and reduced self‐weight. They provide strong interaction between steel and concrete, which improves load‐bearing capacity and allows for faster construction.

Review on the characteristic properties of crumb rubber concrete

open access: yesCleaner Materials
The global scientific research circle and government agencies face a number of serious environmental challenges, one of which is the recycling of “End of Life Tires” (ELT). An estimation of one billion tires is expected to end their useful life annually, of which only roughly 50% are recycled at the moment, with the remainder ending up in landfills ...

Compressive behavior of sustainable rubberized concrete‐filled steel tube columns having various recycled tire rubber aggregate contents and developing a predictive design model

open access: yesStructural Concrete, Volume 25, Issue 6, Page 4639-4659, December 2024.
Abstract As a sustainable solution, employing recycled tire rubber aggregates in the production of concrete is of considerable interest. However, the applicability of rubberized concretes in construction is restricted due to their relatively low mechanical performance.

The role of turfgrasses in environmental protection and their benefits to humans: Thirty years later

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 64, Issue 6, Page 2909-2944, November/December 2024.
Abstract Beard and Green compiled one of the earliest reviews on the environmental and societal (cultural) benefits that living turfgrass systems (e.g., home lawns, athletic fields, golf courses, roadsides, and grounds) provide to humans and associated contemporary issues with turfgrass.

Crumb rubber in concrete: Static and dynamic evaluation

open access: yesConstruction and Building Materials, 2012
Abstract In this study, six different concrete mix designs containing various amounts of coarse and fine crumb rubber were tested for properties important to concrete safety barriers. Eighteen samples – three of each mix design – were tested under static compression to determine the compressive strength and elastic modulus values.
