Thermoplastic waves in magnetars
Magnetar activity is generated by shear motions of the neutron star surface, which relieve internal magnetic stresses. An analogy with earthquakes and faults is problematic, as the crust is permeated by strong magnetic fields, which greatly constrain ...

Fisher's “Earth's Crust” [PDF]
THE verdict of NATURE on the Rev. O. Fisher's “Physics of the Earth's Crust” is that “One or two points do seem to emerge from this assemblage of calculation as fairly clear and established on tolerably firm foundation. Such as that the contraction of the earth by cooling is inadequate to the production of its greater inequalities.”..

Constraints on the symmetry energy from observational probes of the neutron star crust
A number of observed phenomena associated with individual neutron star systems or neutron star populations find explanations in models in which the neutron star crust plays an important role.

Calcium‐Ion Insertion Chemistry in Tunneled α‐MnO2 Cathodes for Calcium Metal Batteries
α‐MnO2 cathodes demonstrate distinct electrochemical behavior and Ca2+ storage capabilities depending on whether they are paired with activated carbon anodes or Ca metal anodes. Ca2+ insertion/extraction is only feasible when α‐MnO2 cathodes are cycled against Ca metal anodes.
