Complete mitochondrial genome of the mantis shrimp, Chorisquilla orientalis Hwang, Ahyong, & Kim, 2018 (Stomatopoda: Protosquillidae)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
In this study, we determined the mitochondrial genome of a stomatopod, Chorisquilla orientalis, collected from Korean waters. The complete mitochondrial genome comprised 15,880 bp, encoding 13 proteins, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNAs genes, and a non-

Occurrence of 'Antrobathynella stammeri' (Jakobi, 1954) (Crustacea: Syncarida: Bathynellidae) in the hyporheic zones of two English karst rivers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper reports the first records of Antrobathynella stammeri in the British Isles since 1985. Numerous individuals were observed in hyporheic water extracted from the River Skirfare (Yorkshire, UK), whilst, in an independent study, a single confirmed

AVONICHE: A Global Dataset of Dietary and Foraging Niches for Birds

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 35, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Motivation The role of each animal species in an ecosystem is largely determined both by the resources it uses and the behaviours through which these resources are obtained. Even in well‐studied vertebrate groups, like birds, quantitative data on the relative use of different food resources in the context of foraging strategies are generally ...

The complete mitogenome of an undescribed clam shrimp of the genus Gondwanalimnadia (Branchiopoda: Spinicaudata), from a temporary wetland in Central District, Botswana

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
Clam shrimps (Spinicaudata) are a widespread and diverse crustacean group that frequent temporary aquatic habitats, but few complete mitochondrial genomes have been published for this group.

Revisiting Small‐Scale Aquaculture (SSA)

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aquatic foods are a vital source of nutrition, yet growing demand and stagnant wild‐capture fisheries have positioned aquaculture as essential to meeting global food needs. Despite this, aquaculture's diverse forms remain poorly understood, particularly small‐scale aquaculture (SSA).

The first mitochondrial genome of Capitulum mitella (Crustacea: Cirripedia) from China: revealed the phylogenetic relationship within Thoracica

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2020
Capitulum mitella (Crustacea: Cirripedia) is an important stalked barnacle. The first mitochondrial genome of C. mitella from China was presented, which is a circular molecule of 15,930 bp in length and AT content is 64.4%. It encodes 37 genes, including

Fatty Acids and Stomach Contents Reveal Dietary Overlaps of Two Prospering Squid Species in the North Sea

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
Distribution ranges of cephalopods are expanding worldwide and their abundances are increasing due to ocean warming. Recently, the broadtail shortfin squid Illex coindetii (Ommastrephidae) expanded into the North Sea where it established a successful spawning stock beside the resident veined squid Loligo forbesii (Loliginidae). Stomach content analysis

Extraordinary morphological changes in valve morphology during the ontogeny of several species of the Australian ostracod genus Bennelongia (Crustacea, Ostracoda) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ostracods belonging to the genus Bennelongia differ much in valve morphology between adults and juveniles. Adult valves are asymmetrical, characterised by a beak-like feature in the anteroventral region of the left valve, and, with some notable ...

Ecological Niche Changes of Two Sympatric Species (Pennahia argentata and Larimichthys polyactis) Revealed by Bulk and Compound Specific Isotope Analyses

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
We investigated trophic interactions between two sympatric fish species, Pennahia argentata and Larimichthys polyactis, using bulk and compound‐specific stable isotope analyses. CSIA of amino acids revealed similar trophic positions but distinct δ15N baselines, indicating ontogenetic niche shifts and offshore migration patterns.
