Earth Crustal and Mantle Deformation
1974One of the more interesting aspects of geophysics, and also unfortunately one of the least susceptible to theoretical description, has to do with the deformation of the earth’s crust and upper mantle through geologic time. The surficial features of these deformations and related processes are readily apparent in continents and ocean basins, island arcs

Numerical Models of Crustal Deformation
1978Several tectonic features in Southern California cannot be directly explained by the plate tectonic interpretation for the region. In particular, both the existence of the Transverse Ranges and the geometry of the San Andreas fault imply a stress pattern deviating from the simple horizontal shear, which parallels the spreading between the Pacific and ...

Crustal movements and earthquake‐related deformation
Reviews of Geophysics, 1979The past four years have seen significant advances in delineating the current movement pattern at and near major plate boundaries, modeling the earthquake‐related deformation occurring there, and developing new high‐precision measurement techniques. At the same time, interpretation of both historic geodetic survey data and new precise measurements in ...

Crustal deformations associated with volcanic activities
Tectonophysics, 1974Abstract Two models of pressure source to interpret the crustal deformations associated with volcanic activities are discussed by example. It is pointed that the magma pressure causing the crust to be deformed may sometimes trigger remarkable tectonic earthquakes around volcanoes.
