Crustal Deformation Observatory

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1981
Under the joint direction of the University of California at Los Angeles and San Diego, the Crustal Deformation Observatory project at Pinyon Flat, California, has completed its first year. The overall aim of this project, sponsored by the U.S. Geological Survey, is to evaluate and improve instrumentation for measuring long‐period (days to years ...

Engineering Na‐Rich P2‐Type Layered Oxides Through Li/Ti Dual Doping for Oxygen Redox Activation and Superior Structural Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
P2‐type sodium layered oxides have potential for high‐voltage operation but suffer from structural instability and capacity fading. This work demonstrates that synergistic Li and Ti co‐doping enhances sodium inventory, suppresses detrimental phase transitions, and activates reversible lattice oxygen redox.

Subparallel thrust and normal faulting in Albania and the roles of gravitational potential energy and rheology contrasts in mountain belts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The active tectonics of Albania and surrounding regions, on the eastern margin of the Adriatic Sea, is characterized by subparallel thrust and normal faulting which, we suggest, is likely to be related to gravitational potential energy contrasts between ...

Hydrothermal Degassing Through the Karakoram Fault, Western Tibet: Insights Into Active Deformation Driven by Continental Strike‐Slip Faulting

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The Karakoram fault (KKF) is an important strike‐slip boundary for accommodating deformation following the India‐Asia collision. However, whether the deformation is confined to the crust or whether it extends into the mantle remains highly debated. Here,

Gravity changes and crustal deformations before the Menyuan, Qinghai Ms6.4 earthquake of 2016

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics, 2019
In this study, the relative gravity data (2012–2015), GPS data-derived horizontal deformation (2011–2014) and the background vertical deformation from the leveling measurements (1970–2011) in the northeastern margin of Tibetan Plateau were processed to ...

Comparative Insights and Overlooked Factors of Interphase Chemistry in Alkali Metal‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review presents a comparative analysis of Li‐, Na‐, and K‐ion batteries, focusing on the critical role of electrode–electrolyte interphases. It especially highlights overlooked aspects such as SEI/CEI misconceptions, binder effects, and self‐discharge relevance, emphasizing the limitations of current understanding and offering strategies for ...

U-Pn geochronology of deformed metagranites in central Sutherland, Scotland: evidence for widespread late Silurian metamorphism and ductile deformation of the Moine Supergroup during the Caledonian orogeny [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Within the Caledonides of central Sutherland, Scotland, the Neoproterozoic metasedimentary rocks of the Moine Supergroup record NW-directed D2 ductile thrusting and nappe assembly, accompanied by widespread tight-to-isoclinal folding and amphibolite ...
