Diagnosis of diffuse panbronchiolitis by transbronchial lung cryobiopsy

open access: yes, 2023
A 70-year-old man began to cough. Chest X-ray showed a tumor in the center, pleural effusion on the left side, and diffuse granular shadows on the right side.

Cryobiopsy: Should This Be Used in Place of Endobronchial Forceps Biopsies?

open access: yes, 2020
Forceps biopsies of airway lesions have variable yields. The yield increases when combining techniques in order to collect more material. With the use of cryotherapy probes (cryobiopsy) larger specimens can be obtained, resulting in an increase in the ...

Diagnostic utility and safety profile of bronchoscopic cryobiopsy versus forceps biopsy in endobronchial and parenchymal lung lesions: a comparative study

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Bronchology
Background Bronchoscopic lung biopsies are crucial for diagnosing both endobronchial and parenchymal lung lesions. Forceps biopsy, though standard, is limited by small specimen size, crush artifacts, and reduced diagnostic yield, particularly in ...

The cryobiopsy in interstitial lung diseases guided by probe‐based confocal laser endomicroscopy is feasible

open access: yes, 2023
Background Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (TBLB) is routinely used to diagnose the interstitial lung disease (ILD). These results are consistent with those of surgical lung biopsy.

Value of ultrathin bronchoscope in improving the endobronchial ultrasound localization rate and diagnosing peripheral pulmonary nodules by cryobiopsy

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine
Background A 3.0-mm ultrathin bronchoscope (UTB) with a 1.7-mm working channel provides better accessibility to peripheral bronchi. A 4.0-mm thin bronchoscope with a larger 2.0-mm working channel facilitates the use of a guide sheath (GS), ensuring ...

Cryobiopsy for Secondary Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis

open access: yesCureus
Secondary pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (SPAP) is one of the diffuse parenchymal lung diseases, and the utility and safety of transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (TBLC) for diagnosing SPAP are unknown. A case of SPAP diagnosed by TBLC is presented. Specimens that were useful for diagnosis were collected, and there was no adverse event following TBLC.

EBUS guided trans-esophgeal cryobiopsy-two case reports

open access: yes
Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) guided mediastinal cryobiopsy is a novel technique which can be combined with EBUS -TBNA to improve the diagnostic yield.

A single-centre, randomised trial to compare diagnostic yield and safety between endobronchial cryobiopsy and endobronchial forceps biopsy procedure in patients with endobronchial lesions

open access: yesLung India
Background: Flexible bronchoscopy is the diagnostic tool of choice to diagnose endobronchial lesions. Pathological samples can be harvested using various techniques, for example, forceps biopsy, brushing, washing, and recently cryobiopsy.

Transbronchial cryobiopsy in diffuse parenchymal lung diseases

open access: yes, 2016
PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The diagnostic yield of conventional transbronchial lung biopsy varies among various parenchymal lung diseases: in pulmonary sarcoidosis and lymphangitis carcinomatosa, a diagnosis can be obtained in up to 80% of patients; this method ...

Abstract 4207: Pharmacodynamic comparisons of novel cryobiopsy instrumentation compared to standard techniques through comparative oncology modeling

open access: yes, 2010
The development of novel and targeted cancer drugs requires innovative clinical trial designs to define drug (pharmacokinetic) and host (pharmacodynamic) relationships early in the development process.
