Unprecedented Spin‐Lifetime of Itinerant Electrons in Natural Graphite Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Graphite exhibits extraordinary spintronic potential, with electron spin lifetimes reaching 1,000 ns at room temperature ‐ over 100 times longer than graphene‐based devices. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy reveals strong anisotropy: out‐of‐plane spins live 50 times longer than their in‐plane counterparts.

Design and Test of Cryogenic Cold Plate for Thermal-Vacuum Testing of Space Components

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
This paper proposes a novel cryogenic fluid cold plate designed for the testing of cryogenic space components. The cold plate is able to achieve cryogenic temperature operation down to −196 °C with a low liquid nitrogen (LN2) consumption.

Void Fraction Measurement System for Steady State Horizontal Two Phase Liquid Nitrogen Flow [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, 2021
A cryogenic flow set-up has been designed and realized, that aimed at investigating experimentally the two-phase flow void fraction of liquid nitrogen in horizontal configurations.

An Introduction to Cryogenics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper aims at introducing cryogenics to non-specialists. It is not a cryogenics course, for which there exists several excellent textbooks mentioned in the bibliography.

In Situ Study of Resistive Switching in a Nitride‐Based Memristive Device

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ TEM biasing experiment demonstrates the volatile I‐V characteristic of MIM lamella device. In situ STEM‐EELS Ti L2/L3 ratio maps provide direct evidence of the oxygen vacancies migrations under positive/negative electrical bias, which is critical for revealing the RS mechanism for the MIM lamella device.

Magetoresistance of RuO_2-based resistance thermometers below 0.3 K

open access: yes, 2001
We have determined the magnetoresistance of RuO_2-based resistors (Scientific Instruments RO-600) between 0.05 K and 0.3 K in magnetic fields up to 8 T. The magnetoresistance is negative around 0.5 T and then becomes positive at larger fields.

Cryogenic Focused Ion Beam Milling to Investigate the Anisotropic Magnetotransport Properties of Bismuth Microcrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The highly anisotropic Fermi surface of bismuth results in variations in magnetotransport properties across different crystallographic directions, which can be characterized by studying microcrystals. To avoid the observed surface melting under room temperature Focused Ion Beam (FIB) irradiation, two low‐temperature FIB fabrication methods are proposed

NTF: Soldering Technology Development for Cryogenics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The advent of the National Transonic Facility (NTF) brought about a new application for an old joining method, soldering. Soldering for use at cryogenic temperatures requires that solders remain ductile and free from tin-pest (grey tin), have toughness ...

Precursor Mineral Phases of Forming Mollusk Shell Nacre: A Study of Hydrated Samples

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mineral, organic phase, and water are the essential components in mollusk shell nacre formation. Their interplay is not well understood, because the hydrated material is difficult to observe at high resolution, under close to native conditions. Forming nacre is studied using environmental and cryo‐electron microscopy and hydrated ACC phases, together ...

Using MRI devices for the energy storage purposes [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2007
It is well known, that the electrical energy storage in the large scale is basically a difficult process. Such a process is connected with energy losses, as most frequently it is the conversion of electrical energy into another form, for example ...
