Bronchoscopic cryotherapy of localized endobronchial tumors can be applied in selected patients who are not candidates for other traditional therapy. Twenty-eight patients were treated on 60 occasions with a closed liquid nitrogen system and a long insulated probe that was specifically designed to be used through an open ventilating bronchoscope.

SYNOPSIS 45 patients with migraine or migraine plus chronic daily headache evaluated the effectiveness of a coldwrap for headache relief. 35.5% judged it not effective, 29% judged it mildly effective, 26.5% found it moderately effective, and 9% judged it completely effective. Previous studies on ice treatment for headache are reviewed.

Cryotherapy for Retinoblastoma
Archives of Ophthalmology, 1982Cryotherapy was applied to 138 intraocular retinoblastoma tumors from 113 patients who were followed up for a mean of 40 months (four to 144 months). Overall, 70% of tumors were cured with cryotherapy and 93% of patients treated with cryotherapy survived.

To the Editor.— Serendipity, although suffering progressive triteness, does exist. The work discussed here evolved from a chance encounter at a funeral, where Steven L. Blender, MD, recounted his successful trial of cryotherapy of psoriasis to one of my patients. That patient persuaded me to freeze one of his plaques.
