[In vitro synergisms among hydrazones, ajoeno and posaconazole against Cryptococcus spp].

Investigacion clinica, 2012
The aim of this study was to assess the in vitro susceptibility to novel antifungal compounds, the steroidal hydrazones, and to compare their antifungal activity and synergistic effects with other compounds, such as ajoeno and posaconazole on Cryptocococus spp isolates.

[Optimization of the conditions for RAPD-PCR of Candida spp. and Cryptococcus spp].

Revista iberoamericana de micologia, 2005
In this study, we determined the optimal RAPD amplification conditions to obtain genetic molecular markers for the rapid and accurate identification of Cryptococcus spp. and Candida spp. The following parameters are modified: template DNA, DNA polymerase, magnesium cloride and primer concentration; denaturation, annealing and extension time ...

Antifungal drug combinations for Cryptococcus neoformans and Prototheca spp.

Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand = Chotmaihet thangphaet, 2000
Seventy-one isolates of Cryptococcus neoformans and 5 isolates of Prototheca spp. were tested for in vitro susceptibility against amphotericin B alone and against the combination of amphotericin B with each clinically relevant concentration of flucytosine (5-FC) and rifampin by broth dilution methods.

[Pigeons and other birds as a reservoir for Cryptococcus spp].

Revista iberoamericana de micologia, 2008
In the last 25 years, the cases of human and animal cryptococcosis have increased significantly. This is mostly due to the improvement in the survival of immunocompromised patients. The disease is frequently related to the exposure of this type of patients to avian droppings.

Comparison of chitin localization in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Cryptococcus neoformans, and Malassezia spp.

Mycological Research, 1989
Wheat germ agglutinin conjugated to colloidal gold was reacted with chitin in whole cell sections of representative ascomycetous and basidiomycetous yeasts. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae chitin was concentrated throughout the bud scar region and was of negligible levels in other regions of the wall.
