Impact of A Multidisciplinary Team Discussion for Genetic Lung Fibrosis

open access: yesRespirology, Volume 30, Issue 6, Page 523-532, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Objective Approximately 30% of individuals diagnosed with familial pulmonary fibrosis (FPF) exhibit a pathogenic variant upon genetic analysis. We established a genetic Multidisciplinary Discussion (geneMDD) aimed to enhance expertise in diagnosing and managing FPF.

Diagnostic Significance of Metagenomic Next‐Generation Sequencing in Immunocompromised Patients With Suspected Pulmonary Infection

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 175, Issue 1, Page 112-122, May 2025.
Our study evaluates the diagnostic value of metagenomic next‐generation sequencing (mNGS) in immunocompromised patients with suspected pulmonary infections. mNGS showed superior sensitivity over conventional methods, especially in identifying mixed infections in organ transplant recipients and patients with low lymphocyte counts.

Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia: A Series of 25 Cases

open access: yesEpidemiology International, 2020
Introduction: Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia (COP) earlier known as ‘Bronchiolitis Obliterans with Organizing Pneumonia’ (BOOP), is a rare lung condition in which the bronchioles, alveoli and the walls of small bronchi become inflamed and plugged with connective tissue. The condition is called “cryptogenic” because the cause is unknown.

Evaluation of Interstitial Lung Disease Complications Caused by Biologic Agents Using a Spontaneous Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting Database

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 13, Issue 2, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a clinically relevant adverse event associated with biologic agent use. However, the current incidence of ILD remains unclear as large‐scale risk assessments of biologic agents have not been conducted. The aim of this study was to clarify the association between biologic agent use and ILD development in ...

Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia due to ortho-phenylenediamine

open access: yesRespiratory Medicine CME, 2011
AbstractCryptogenic organizing pneumonia (COP) is a rare, potentially serious respiratory disease which may be idiopathic or secondary to other conditions. Exceptionally, cases of COP of occupational origin have been reported. We present the case of a laboratory researcher who developed COP after prolonged exposure to ortho-phenylenediamine.

Personalized ventilation guided by electrical impedance tomography with increased PEEP improves ventilation‐perfusion matching in asymmetrical airway closure and contralateral pulmonary embolism during veno‐venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: A case report

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 13, Issue 7, April 2025.
Abstract We report the case of a 54‐year‐old man with right‐lung pneumonia and contralateral pulmonary embolism (PE) conditioning severe refractory hypoxemia requiring veno‐venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) was used to assess recruitability and regional ventilation and perfusion.

Case of cryptogenic organizing pneumonia

open access: yesConsilium Medicum, 2020
Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia is a diffuse lung disease characterized by excessive proliferation of granulomatous tissue in the small bronchi and alveoli and moderate interstitial inflammation. The diagnosis requires a multidisciplinary approach involving a pulmonologist, a radiologist and, in some cases, a mor-phologist.

Skin infections caused by Mycobacterium chelonae: Underestimated, especially in immunocompromised patients

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 262-268, March 2025.
Capsule SummaryMycobacterium chelonae infections are rare but significant, especially in immunocompromised patients, often leading to delayed diagnosis due to nonspecific clinical signs and challenges in culturing the pathogen. We report five cases of M. chelonae cutaneous infections, four of whom were on immunosuppressive therapy.
